They were checking on Hendriks. He’s fine.

(didn’t see the other post)

Hendriks wiggles out of a 2 out bases loaded situation by K'ing Hilliard. Still 1-0 Sox, Top of 4.

Crochet still 96-97

Good. Hopefully he can pitch, which means locating and changing speeds.

It's tough when your fastball is 97 mph and your changeup is 92 mph. He needs to try a different grip or something to get it down in the 86-88 mph range, or he's never getting out of the pen.

The 100 MPH Crochet is probably never coming back. But we saw last season that isn't essential for him to be an effective reliever.

Last year's Crochet may not be this years Crochet . Let's wait to see how he's progressed.

Agreed. I was curious, but it seems that's not happening.

He threw a bunch of changeups. Statcast data was there. Change was 91-93 mph, which is fine when you're throwing 100 mph but not when you're throwing 96-97.

Leadoff double by Burger, Single by Adolfo , Mendick forces Adolfo at 2nd , Burger scores. Mendick steals 2nd. Mendick steals 3rd. Leury infield single Mendick stays at 3rd. Robert Sac Fly scores Mendick Sheets lines out to LF . 3 outs. 2 runs , 3H

3-0 Sox, Bottom of 5th, Foster pitching.

The Rockies radio announcer as referred to the Sox as the Cubs two times already in the 20 minutes I've been listening.

Spring training Jack no big deal.

Yeah, the general rule is you want at least 8 mph difference to be really effective.

Top 6th Eloy walk, Rutherford running for Eloy. Collins DP ground ball.  Vaughn ground out .

Sousa strikes out the side. Darkhorse to make the 28 man roster.

Is there a timeline for the 28 man roster?

No. I'm making an assumption.  Sousa probably won't make a 26 man unless Sox decide to stretch Crochet out.

Vaughn switches from RF to LF, Rutherford in Rf, Yoelqui in CF. Bennett Sousa now pitching. Hilliard K's, Sousa K's the side.

Top7 Burger and Adlofo K, Mendick ground out.

McClure in 2 singles to open the inning Yoelqui guns out the runner at 3rd.

According to Rockies announcers, apparently it was one hell of a throw.

There's no reason to believe McClure is ever going to be a major league pitcher, right?

Effective reliever? Sure. What got everyone geeked was 100mph Crochet that had Sox fans with dreams of Randy Johnson and Chris Sale in their heads. It’s disappointing any way you slice it. But it’s his first day on the mound.  Some guys build up to the true gas.
