Andrew Vaughn hurts hip pointer, out 1-2 weeks per White Sox

All the belly aching by some about Vaughn playing out of position makes me ask if any of those posters are in the group who advocate signing or trading for players and then wanting them or an established player to move to another position?

Sure, if they have the athletic ability and desire...most young MLBers like Vaughn will give it their utmost simply because they want a spot on the roster and refusing doesn't put them in a very good position with their team.  Once upon a time, converting to a utility spot was the only way for a lot of players to stick around, it was borne out of necessity.

We do talk about moving around nearly nearly every player on the roster.  For example, Moncada moving to second would have prevented the Harrison signing and opened up a spot for Burger, but it is what it is at this point.

Love watching these DHs out of position hurting themselves.

  • Is it Ok to sign Conforto now? There’s still time to right this wrong. The injury situation appears to have arisen before the needed to be tested. Leury now our RF.  Hopefully we’re talking weeks

The criticism goes to the dumb fucks who thought it was a good idea to play him out there.

We certainly have options if Vaughn is out

I mean, in the most technical of senses, this is absolutely correct. But…….lolwut?

So do we get the Hahn press conference tomorrow around 2PM announcing the severity :(

2 pm AZ time so it misses the early news in Chicago....

Damn, was hoping for “X-ray negative, he’s day-to-day”

Guessing X-rays were negative but maybe doing an MRI to check for any tissue damage?

Assuming that Vaughn is out for at least a few weeks (hopefully, day to day), it seems unlikely that the White Sox are going to spend more on this current roster. Is RF primarily Engel or do they rotate Garcia out there, etc.?

Guess it's better than saying x-rays negative then announcing he's out for months.

Until we hear definitively, Conforto Talk is alive and well, even though 90% of Soxtalk doesn't expect anything much out of the front office at this point.

Engel isn’t 100% healthy yet

It's probably hard to tell a player to not dive or run into walls, but maybe a reminder that they are playing a spring training game is needed.

That seems confusingly vague.

Hopefully Robert just freaked him out a little bit when he was favoring his hip and it’s nothing serious.

Guessing the injury was caused from the impact.

So our should be DH is hurt trying to make a diving catch in the OF. Like our should have been DH last year was hurt trying to rob a meaningless ball in the OF.

I had a similar landing playing football with my friends many years ago. I had a hip pointer. I was OK in a few days. I didn't have a cart, but would have loved one.

Maybe Micker made the team now.

Stranger things have happened.  The baseball Gods work in mysterious ways.

I hope it’s just that and not the Bo Jackson injury. Seems much more likely to be a hip pointer.

Maybe if he's out a few weeks they can use this as an excuse to keep him in the minors for a few weeks to "work out the rust and work on OF defense" when he comes back to get that extra year back.

/reaching for a positive

He’s out for the year.

What was the injury Avi Garcia had years ago on a diving play in RF in the early season?  Might have been Colorado.

"Dude, just stay down and maybe they'll sign Conforto and you can finally play your natural position."
