TLR is a genius. If he doesn’t start Leury over Engel, then Leury is the guy inserted in the 3 hole and Engel doesn’t hit in that spot. I can’t believe we have been underestimating his mastermind abil

  • Madrigal gets that easily

  • Keep winning. Fire Tony.

Foster already warming up in the Sox pen. What's been the point of Kopech starting the last few weeks when they know he has nothing??

Trying to build stamina after hitting his previous high in innings?

Kopech is afraid to throw Polanco strikes.

Kopech to the DL and Davis Martin up would not be the worst idea imo

Just me, or does it look like Polanco just did a line of coke or something? His eyes are too wide open at all times

So the Sox should write Allen Thomas a blank check to return as a strength & conditioning coach, then? The Sox had like a 20 year run where they were always amongst the best teams in terms of IL days lost, fewest soft tissue injuries, etc

Not saying that. Just saying that wasn't part if Herm's job description.

Kopech just doesn't look good. I don't know if it's physical or mechanical but he hasn't been the same since the knee issue.

This whole team minus Pito are a total mess physically. You almost expect an injury every game.

Start of the big night for Leury right here

Leury should not be a starter in any more games.  He is a utility player to come off the bench as needed.  If he does start he needs to hit 9th behind Big Energy.  Never hit 7th, when there is a better chance of having RISP.  TLR just keeps doubling down on Leury.

He made Tony look bad in Cleveland by throwing strikes. He is now banned for life.

That's a shame.  Did I miss that in a post game press conference??

Yep in a big game like tonight, he should have never been starting

Ok

The thing with his knee though is its not like you could have done anything to prevent that issue.

Way to pitch out of it at least

Polanco is a lefty homerun hitter.

Battle for survival.

Now do they dare put Kopech out for another?

This is a very strange game thus far.

i mean so kopech control been bad....

but what exactly is foster going to do....

he will give up a touchdown

Kopech is hanging in there.  Prefer him to Foster in the 4 th.

It seems pretty clear the Sox plan for Kopech is to let him pitch unless an actual injury prevents him from doing so. Do you think he'll be able to handle ~150 regular season innings plus potential playoff starts without getting a break at some point?

kopech fastball best its been in a few starts

The serial killer won sox math again!

Kopech's peripherals are straight up concerning. Tyler Wells, who also was a reliever last year and transitioned into a starter this year, is having a much better time with the change than Kopech. And Kopech was a much better prospect than Wells.
