Looks like news of his TJ surgery broke January 20th. Not sure exactly when the procedure took place but this might put him in line to be pitching pretty early on next spring. Like this pick.

At this stage he is probably getting back to a minimal activity level.

Any chance Karnisovas & Jerry sweeten the deal and make Noah a two sport star in Chicago?

7ish maybe?

Montgomery

Colas

Vera

Sosa

Rodriguez

Ramos

Schultz?

Somewhere in this range along with Cespedes, Kath, Thompson, Kelley. I'm probably forgetting someone as others here follow the minors much more than I do.

Lol 0 shot he isn't top 3 in this weak farm. I'd put him #2 behind Colson personally.

Shultz will be up here by September in a relief role

Instant analysis from baseball america

Instant Analysis: I'm a big fan of this pick here for the White Sox. They're getting a pitcher who improved his already impressive stuff from a year ago and has mostly been slowed this spring by mononucleosis, not an arm injury. Schultz is 6-foot-9, attacks hitters with a plus fastball from a difficult angle and a nasty slider. Even though he's a long-limbed teenage pitcher, he has the body control that bodes well for his ability to throw strikes. I think there's frontline starter upside, something the White Sox have to be excited to get at the back of the first round in a draft with a lot of question marks on pitching.”

Could always use a quality lefty.  Another Randy Johnson?

They only come around like once every thirty years… at best.

I was hopeful because of his 6’9” height…

Only a handful of 6’ 9 pitchers have ever gone 500 innings

The whole can't go to college thing with MLB draft picks is such a terrible, unethical fucking part of the game. Kids shouldn't have to make that choice.

The guy is always going to be able to go back to college and will instantly be a multi-millionaire. Plus, at least for the top prospects, there is usually a provision in their contract that will have the team pay for college if they ever decide to go back.

What???  Unethical?  Are you saying that every high school player HAS to go to college?  Where did you come up with that one?  Plus, if they sign out of high school, they get a scholarship.  Dope.

I disagree.  Anyone drafted thus far all will sign for more than almost any 4 year education would cost.  Nothing stopping them from giving it a go and then paying for school if that is the path they want to take.

Hell, even the kids that get small bonuses in later rounds and forego school are often money ahead, because contrary to popular belief there are almost no full ride baseball scholarships.  Signing for 100k and then going to an affordable school in your 20s is often much less expensive than a $10k scholarship on a 45k  bill at a 4 year.  Kids drafted sometimes as early as the 2nd round are looking at student loans, believe it or not.  Really you are just measuring the intrinsic value of being a D1 baseball player on campus vs the intrinsic value of taking your stab at rookie ball and then likely being a normal student.

What is broken with the current MLB draft model?  That college seniors that are drafted are often painted into a corner with little to no options and below slot offers.  Which then puts pressure on underclassmen to decide when to jump.  I personally would love to see a non-negotiable slot amount per round.

Every draft pick is eligible for the MLB schlorship program which pays 100% of college tuition.  Players in High school, junior college, and college. Some teams will even pay for grad school.  Baseball is not forcing anyone to give up their education.

Also he chose to enter the draft

It's what they call the Arizona rookie league now.

you arent barred from going to college after 22 years old. If that was my son i would say the "college experience" isnt worth it if you can take 3-4 million dollars and focus 100% on your dream.
