Nothing trade, around the fringes 35 yrs old .  LH, good K rate, but watch out for those walks.

It is another stupid move on the margins that commits a poor crying club to a few million and a roster spot for 2023.

  • Congrats to Seby. That is a hell of an accomplishment to keep at it and outright win a job like this. He’s improved a lot.

Glad this was Hahn’s only deadline move.  Imagine how much more damage he could have done trying to save this sinking ship.

  • Another $3 mill committed to bullpen next year.

Just wait for the next trade for another reliever !

Wait a second:

McGuire was .5 WAR and Diekman .3?

And we're sending cash or a PTBNL?

LMAO.

OK Richard, have yourself a last trade as GM of a professional franchise.   ?

It's decent.  The market on Chafin must have been insane.

Reese was getting cut any day now.  Does that not matter here?

Why are we taking on salary here???

To prove Jerry can authorize over a $200 million payroll mark so nobody can accuse the Sox of being cheap, just dumb?

Tax incentives for the Sox in terms of depreciating the value of roster "assets"?

But hey they spent the money, amirite?

McGuire was about to be DFA, so getting someone with a positive WAR is a win.

Yeah this is where I’m at. We were at 3 catchers. Granted, he seemed like the best defensive one.

They basically traded for a guy who the Sox were only carrying to try to trade. Otherwise without options he's have to be DFA'd. I think in that case Reese could elect free agency

You don't get credit for backing yourself into a corner roster wise.

Neg 0.5 fWAR

It does if you're trading the wrong one and completely disregard the concept of defense?

Of course, could we really sell high on a Zavala hot streak?

Wow we really boxed ourselves in there with that roster construction, Hahn is basically like Houdini...tons of credit going his way for this one.

At least until he actually pitches.

Diekman to the IL I heard but Ohtoni will be here for tomorrow's game I assume ;) ?

In a vacuum it's great. It's the unnecessary addition of another 5 million dollars that we overpay the backend of our roster that adds up every offseason.

This is actually a decent trade. Diekman has a good track record.

Who is the PTBNL? Can't comment until I know that.

Let's pray it's La Russa.

Shhh...we just signed a different Japanese player named Ohtoni and are promoting the heck out of it, already stocked the souvenir shops with the same jersey number as the Angels' version.

Maybe it's Diekman. We give him back at the end of the season.

As a lefty signed thru 24 to pair with Bummer, I wonder if this is a pre-move for something Crochet related, either including him in a trade, or keeping him in the minors next year to start.

There's been a ton of smoke about Crochet starting next year.

Wondering if Crochet becomes the secondary piece for an acquisition in the next 22 hours.
