  • I just don't see how we can win the division without Tony in the dugout.     Said no Sox fan this century.

  • This will be tough but they really need to go 6-0 against the athletics and Rockies. With the twins and guardians about to play each other that would be huge.

  • It would, but also I don’t want hear any complaining about how unfair it is either. They did it that way this year because the backup should be a wildcard spot. Since it’ll be lower than the 6-seed…sh

Twins get to lose another to the Yankees tomorrow.

I'm waiting for the Royals to play their youth and basically pack it in for the year. Them in playing for draft position will hurt us.

I like the idea of this thread.

The Royals have basically been playing their youth since their Toronto road trip / the trade deadline, no?

I don’t follow them closely but it does seem that way.  Most of their now regulars are young guys I believe.

It's possible to have youth without sacrificing productivity.

In addition, the draft order is now by lottery for the top 6 picks.  Tanking is less relevant than it has ever been.

Correa homer. 4-2 Twins. 8th

Looking ahead to next week's make-up game with Cleveland, if the rotation holds Giolito would be facing McKenzie. However, the Sox have a day off Monday so they could have Giolito pitch on normal rest Wednesday vs. the Rockies and push Cease back to Thursday to face Cleveland. Now one might argue that with only 24 games left, you want Cease pitching in as many of them as possible and under no circumstances should you be pushing him back.  Another option is to push Giolito back in the rotation and let Lynn pitch vs. Cleveland, as Lynn is scheduled to pitch next Friday but could pitch Thursday on normal rest with the off-day in there.

How would you handle the rotation for this game?

I'd go with Lynn on normal rest.

Don't remember where I saw this, but Twins are now 2-98 in their last 100 games at Yankee Stadium. Can that really be true?

It does appear that they are 2-24 in their last 26 at Yankee Stadium though (regular season).

EDIT This was before Thursday's Twins win. So 3-24 now over the last 27.

And 73-22 this millennium including playoffs. Absolutely insane. And yankees 64-28 in Minnesota too. Utter dominance.

Remarkably, the Yankees are 61-16 vs. the Twins at Yankee Stadium since 2002 (regular season).

They have also faced the Twins in the playoffs 6 separate times in that span and won all 6 series with an overall record of 16-2 in those 18 playoff games.

White Sox now in 2nd place behind Guardians but ahead of the Twins

Also, now 22nd or 23 in MLB homers, depending if you go by actual numbers of home runs or pace of homers per game (behind Rays).

Guardians are currently dead last.

Rooting for the Twins this weekend.

I’d just be happy if the Sox go 14-7 the next 21, and then whatever it takes vs the Twins the final series. Hopefully the Twins will be eliminated, and the Sox eek it out in the end vs Cleveland.

Rain delay in Minneapolis. Twins and Guardians on Apple TV tonight.

MLB app has changed the game from delayed to warmup, so maybe they are starting soon.

Cleveland up 4-0 in the first.

Hope twins and guardians play 20 tonight
