What were the Giants thinking?? He might accept and then they'll be stuck with an ace on 1 year deal.

24M remaining on McCann's deal vs 13.5M remaining on Leury & Diekman.

No chance to me McCann is worth 10.5M more than those guys, particularly when the Sox already have 2 similar catchers on the 40-man already.

Getting out from the remaining 2 years of Leury's contract.....priceless.

Trading Leury for an even worse contract would be quite the Rick Hahn masterclass

You've watched the Sox these past few years. Anyone can be a right fielder if you want them to be.

I’d take McCann back for Leury and Diekman

I don't think the Mets would want 2 guys they have to put on the 40 man. Just give them a couple complex guys and make them eat half of McCan's money.

I was sure the Yanks would grab him.

Sadly, I’d take him back in a heartbeat.

Replacing Leury with McCann and Elvis would be so Soxy.

I’d be much more interested in Escobar than McCann.

McCann back at around 6 mil a season and coinciding with Gio's contract year...may not be the worst thing ever. Yaz/McCann is serviceable and Yaz can DH a bit so while I don't love it...i could see it solely for Hahn thinking it's a brilliant buy low move.

I think this means the A's have spent more money on free agents than we have so far.

That seems like a terrible deal for the A’s.  The more deals that are signed, the better the Clevinger deal looks.

Rick Hahn's 4D chess move: overpay a back-end starter that "sets the market" for other mediocre players to make his initial overpay look better.

In all seriousness though, it seems like almost every signing is $8 million minimum this year. I don't think Hahn is singlehandedly responsible for that, but I'm sure Matt Boyd would like to thank Hahn for giving Clevinger $12 million.

Fine with league min. Backup 1B, DH and leader.
