Sox building something outside GRF…?

Featured Replies

They need too badly. Also get a hotel or resort as well so our fans that commute can stay for a weekend home stand.

Probably inside the park after rereading the tweet.  Most of the space around Gate 5 has been fenced off and torn up since the season ended but hard to see anything being built outside in a few months.

Why build where the only bar already exists? White Sox bar and Grill is fine as is (although they need to consistently stay open). Rest of the outside of the stadium needs the work.

I wonder if Rick Hahn needs a building permit to "build" a team that doesn't suck?

Instead of beer costing whole numbers of dollars, the prices all end in .08

They need a casino and Oriental spa, maybe miniature golf.

structural alterations to two (2) existing 500 level locations at guaranteed rate field for a new outdoor bar with premium seating skybox. work to include demolition of 8 rows of seats, rearrange entry and exit stairs, structural modifications as needed with minor electrical and plumbing as per plans.

Sounds like the upper level group areas at the UC.

Yep, sounds like they're building a MadHouse section like at the UC. That would be cool, but I think they severely underutilize the space around the immediate park.

Got excited thinking they were doing something outside.  They are just taking an upper deck section that they can't get $7 a ticket for and turning it into a premium seating area where people will now happily pay 10X.

Just F'ing great, there goes our free agent money!

Gotta love that owner.

Lot B surrounding the bar and the team store is all torn up.  Not sure what they're building though.

So like 8 people can watch from two plastic tables? Lot of teams put their destination bars in the upper deck. Sox have their 2 both in the lower deck so not sure what I was expecting but still underwhelming even in the concept photos. Guess the UD can take all they can get.

Yeah, it's really underwhelming. Unless they have plans to expand it after this season, it seems completely pointless, because like you said, 8 people can watch shoulder to shoulder?

It’s no different than the ones at the UC. There’s like 10 standing room spots that get snapped up right when gates open and then the rest of the bar area is inside and you can’t see the game.

I don't think these will get snatched up as fast most nights. It's not a location upgrade for most. And for those it is, a $13 beer may be a little more than they want to spend.

If it is crowded at least Sox fans will finally realize how difficult it is to "have a seat at the table" and appreciate our management a little more.

I want them to name it "A Seat at the Table."

Each table has a missed FA signing photoshopped in Sox jersey for decoration.
