What about the Baseball Savant stats? Those are positive too.

Teams seem to value framing much higher than the general public, even fans on here. They will take great framers who allow a ton of passed balls which is a profile most fans don't like.

And what are the teams telling us about Gary Sanchez

A catcher who can't catch would be the most on brand signing ever.

Actually this would be an excellent value signing. Despite his reputation as a bat first catcher who can't catch, last year he had positive defensive numbers (FG had him with positive defensive stats

I get the angst about anything the sox do......BUT, at this point Gary Sanchez would be very good addition to this team, if that is what happens.  He had a good year behind the plate last year and he provides power at the plate, something we severely lacked last year.  The other aspect of this is who are you going to get at the Catcher position right now that is better than Gary Sanchez?

Don't forget Yaz hit 3 homeruns last year and basically sucked as a catcher.

Are they actually going to cut Yaz or would they keep the more expensive player and cut Zavala?

I think the only way this is possibly true is if the Sox believe Grandal is cooked.  Problem is that no matter what they do, they're still stuck with Grandal's salary.

He loves bringing him up any chance he gets. McGuire is awful and is irrelevant to any discussion at this point.

I mean yea but he is also not on the team lol

We know the Sox have never been wrong on someone's medicals or used limited resources in an inefficient way before.

Grandal was a great signing (at the time)

they can easily keep 3 and move Sheets to the minors until they decide on who to cut

I want Jorge Alfaro

This would be good too.

Pretty sure he’s talking about Rodon

Hector Gomez says the Giants are eyeballing Sanchez

IF this rumor were to be true (big if)…does that mean they know something contrary to Grandal’s back improving that we’ve been seeing? Because Seby is out of options correct? Can’t see any possibility of carrying 3 catchers

You can carry 3 catchers since Sheets provides 0 value.  Grandal just becomes the backup 1B + spot start catcher.  And if he is indeed broken, you can cut him and bring Sheets up

Do any of our insiders know if there is any truth to this.....

Unfortunately Happy Man is a mentally ill individual desperate for attention, so unlikely any truth to this.

This would be a rational move in my view. If Grandad can still walk and swing he can play some first base.

Alfaro is a legitimately awful catcher.  Let's stop with the legitimately awful catchers.

Sheets is very likely our starting RF for the first 3-5 weeks of the season.

I don't see the Sox adding a catcher on an MLB deal unless they can turn Seby into something very useful on the trade market.

And the desperate need for a passable 4th OF reveals itself yet again.

In the limited time I’ve seen him play first…. He was just as bad as behind the plate.

I am going to be brutally honest, I would rather see Leury out there, than see Sheets out there.

Hopefully a legit 4th OF like Duvall instead.

I think the team needs a third outfielder first.
