Who we selling before the deadline?

I find it likely that Jerry will force the FO to cut salary. He's not paying big bucks for a s%*# team.

Obvious candidates seem like Giolito, Lynn and Liam, as long as they have value. Tim is a guy with big value IMO. Cashing in on him would be good. I can see guys like Yoan going for pennies on the dollar because Jerry won't want the team eating any salary.

Anderson, Lynn, Giolito, Hendriks, Grandal, Graveman, Kelly are all at the top of the list.

I don’t think an oft injured poor fielding shortstop will bring back as much value as you think.

Who do they have to trade along with him to not send money to subsidize the remaining contract balance?

Trading Colson Montgomery along with Yoan...might be one of the only things he could actually do to spark a true Sox fan revolt.

At any rate, pennies on the dollar implies trading for less than than his "true" underlying value...so that means eating money or young talent by definition.

How about them Cubbies Sat and Sun?

Tim Anderson would be a good fit for the Dodgers

Do you think we could get some decent  starting pitching prospect(s) back for Timmy?

I'm selling Rick Hahn

Apparently he is.

Just reading the first statement "Jerry will force the FO to cut salary. He's not paying big bucks for a s%*# team is is comical and absurd."

What prudent and intelligent owner would be ok with this debacle mess that Hahn and Williams have orchestrated. It's becoming hilarious how detached and clueless Jerry has become which makes me assume at 87 years old maybe his cognitive skills are eroding due to senility or early dementia. The thought of Jerry telling those two clowns, "hey guys, I know you are doing your best and it's not your fault this team sucks, but as a result, please go ahead and dump salaries of all the top players before the trade deadline."

If I am Hahn, everyone on the 26-man roster is up for grabs for prospects.

Define decent.

Assiming he’s mostly healthy after this injury to July, is Tim going to bring back a top 50 in the game prospect? Naw.

Could he bring back a top 100 prospect or a guy who is close to being one, someone who would be a top 5 guy in the White Sox system? Maybe.

I'll take a piece or 2 from a good minor system like the Dodgers....gotta make room for our top prospect at SS and we will not resign TA.

MLB Trade Value Median Values:

(7/1/23 Age - Final Year of Contract including options)

Don't want Hahn/Ryan Pace to move - Let new GM evaluate player and develop a legitimate feasible plan for ballclub:

  • $75.2M Cease (27 - Controlled through 2025)
  • $73.2M Robert Jr. (25 - Signed through 2025 plus 2026 and 2027 Options)
  • $39.6M Montgomery (21 - Clock hasn't started)
  • $25,5M Vaughn (25 - Controlled through 2026)
  • $18.9M Kopech (27 - Controlled through 2025)
  • $16.4M Colas (24 - Controlled through 2028)
  • $13.6M Ramos (21 - Clock hasn't started)
  • $5.9M Sosa (23 - Controlled through 2028)
  • $5.1M Vera (23 - Clock hasn't started)

Tradable for salary controlled contributors or minor league prospects:

  • $41.9M Anderson (30 - 2024 Option)
  • $32.4M Jimenez (26 - Singed through 2024 plus 2025-2026 Options)
  • $16.9M Giolito (28 - 2024 Free Agent)
  • $13.5M Crochet (24 - Controlled through 2026)
  • $11.6M Lynn (36 - 2024 Team Option)
  • $6.1M Lambert (28 - Controlled through 2027)
  • $5.7M Burger (27 - Comtrolled through 2028)
  • $5.6M Lopez (29 - 2024 Free Agent)
  • $4.5M Sheets (27 - Controlled through 2027)
  • $4.4M Bummer (29 - Signed through 2024)
  • $4.3M Martin (26 - Controlled through 2028)
  • $0.9M Hendriks (34 - 2024 Team Option or Annuity Buyout)
  • $0.7M Graveman (32 - Signed through 2024)
  • $0.2M Clevinger (32 - 2024 Mutual $10M Option or $4 Buyout)

Tradable Negative Value Players - Possibly need to eat portion of contract:

  • -$2.7M Diekman (37 (Good Lord) - 2024 Team Option)
  • -$4.1M Kelly (35 - 2024 Free Agent)
  • -$6.6M Benintendi (28 - Signed through 2027 (Good Lord))
  • -$8.8M Grandal (34 - 2024 Free Agent)
  • -$11.7M Moncada (28 - Signed through 2024 plus 2025 Option)

Kopech.  They should have traded him 2 years ago like I suggested (and was mocked for stating at the time).  His mental issues haven't improved.

Moncada won't net anything but do it anyway.  Trade TA, keep Cease.

For a 1 1/2 year contract... assuming he's healthy AND productive between now and the DDL time, he's worth a Top 30-50 and a fringeish 100 guy... especially if they don't get Ohtani.

Don't forget Leury, who certainly counts against 2023 payroll as well.

Can't believe Jimenez has all that much positive value at this point... them again he probably goes all Ortiz/JD Martinez with the right team after leaving the Sox.

So if the white Sox were trading for him, you’d think he’s worth both Montgomery and Colas? Ha.

To the Dodgers... who don't have a SS and still have all kinds of pressure to win?

For a half year... sure, Colas.

Not 1 1/2 years at a very good salary compared to FA market and needing to conserve resources for Ohtani.

Plus Montgomery is hurt... so his value is dimished until he tears up AA as well.

Look up what SD gave up for Clevinger...or Josh Hader for 1.5 years.

Probably not, but get whatever you can.  Same goes for Moncada, Grandal and Eloy.

Sure... they control his rights no matter what.  See contentious year to year deals with Giolito recently.

I could see Lynn traded to a contender at the deadline.  TA maybe next winter, but I don’t think they have the stones to do it in season.  Maybe if any of the pen arms are performing well enough.

I don’t see a mass fire sale even if they are totally buried in the division.  We’ll get some salary dumped, and a few middling pickups in FA and we’ll be told they are competing again.  Welcome to post rebuild mediocrity
