Aaron Hicks

Featured Replies

I've mentioned this in another post, but I believe Aaron Hicks would be a good pickup for the Sox.  He was released by the Yankees, who are on the hook for most of his salary, so he would come cheap.  He is a switch hitter, good defense, and has been hitting better of late.  He could replace Haseley on the roster.

please look at his OPS the last three seasons... he makes Benintendi seem like Mike Trout Lite in comparison

I wouldn't mind Hicks, but this is not the organization to go to if you want to restart your career and get good instruction.

He's sucked so bad for a while. I don't see the point. He isn't going to get better.

<Sarcasm>..Hey while there at it they can pickup hunter dozier too......

Aaron Hicks was DFA for a reason and that's because he is going downhill fast. He is 33 yrs old turning 34 later this season.

2023 stat line:

.188/.263/.261/.524

Last three year stat line is:

.209/.288/.310/.599

We have enough holes in our lineup and this does not improve the Sox lineup or depth.

Aaron Hicks had a nice career, and after a bumpy start, made a lot of money. He should retire and train for the senior golf tour.

More dumpster diving...that's the White Sox way!

Aaron Hicks screams "Rays reclamation project that will suddenly become a thorn in the Yankees side."

Players and agents have to know this, right? Like if they had comparable offers from the Rays and White Sox with the same path to playing time, they would have to know which org has a track record of giving new life to a career.

Hahn is due for a dumpster dive, im sure hes calling his agent now

Not sure why the Rays would need him. Sox could possibly use him to fill in after the fire sale commences, though

And he was familiar with the Central about 7-8 years ago...will take revenge on the Twins for discarding him, etc.

Scrap heap reclamation project

I enjoy the people in here roasting the Sox for signing a guy that they haven't signed.

Like guys, we have plenty to gripe about. We already have a Yankees reclamation project starting in the outfield.

Can they really rely on the likes of Harold Ramirez for the entire season...?

Can we as a fan base stop with this? Every time another team releases some overpaid bad player, "maybe the sox should sign him" ... is this how we've been conditioned? To be ok with 3rd rate castoffs from better run orgs?

Hey that's what second division teams do.

It should stop I agree. Unfortunately the front office seems to think this is a "winning" philosophy and it filters down to some fans.

no need for negativity here. If the Sox don’t have to put Hicks on the 40 man roster than what’s the problem with a minor league contract and see if he can rebound? It’s depth for the club

Uh, he probably won't take your offer.

People are allowed to be negative about bad players, it’s ok

This comes off as not only should we accept adding terrible players... who won't even get the bar back to mired in mediocrity, but we should be happy to add these players to the minor league systems.

You could understand players in their twenties with a limited amount of upside like a Haseley...it just feels depressing that we keep going through retreads and guys like Madrigal Vaughn and Colas are just not getting the job done, regardless of where they're playing.
