Fire Chris Getz

I’ll be honest, I am starting to lose the little bit of hope I had that Getz wasn’t the shitty Farm Director that he appeared to be and that his failures were a result of being held back by KW & Hahn.  I have no doubt that he’s made some structural improvements to the org, but ultimately you have to be able to marry the data and technology and turn it into meaningful actions to drive real change and I am currently unconvinced he knows how to do that.

After putting the worst team in baseball history on the field in 2024, you would expect there to be some sort of improvement in year 2. There is none, and this team looks just as bad if not worse than 2024. I believe the only way that happens is if you don't know what you're doing.

This should come as a shock to no one, as Chris Getz was not and is not qualified to be a GM of a MLB team.

If he would have just made the opposite of every acquisition, they’d be in a better place.  Fedde was the best guy he’s signed, and even that has basically become a net negative for the franchise.

Team looks like it's already quit imo. Our inability to find players with grit and managers that can motivate is a very big factor in why the team is so bad and will once again under perform the projections by 10-20 games.

Also if you put any truth into Getz is the one putting together the lineups, its even more of an inditement to how bad he is at his job.

When a team is so terribly overmatched, it looks like they aren't giving any effort at times, because they aren't good enough.  Outside of a couple of guys, that is the case for almost all of this roster.

I had a question: Is our pitching on the whole way worse this season? The first handful of games it looked like we might have a surprise excellent pitching staff.

Same question about the everyday lineup. Is it worse or does the improved defense make the everyday lineup better than last year?

So I won't be accused of only asking, I'd say our pitching staff may actually be a lot worse and the everyday lineup a little better with Sosa and Meidroth. If Beni and Vaughn start hitting that's four good hitters.

I feel like Robert isn't giving any effort... the young kids and the vets trying to hang onto their careers are giving effort, they just aren't any good.

Robert joins fellow "Bust Brothers" Moncada and Jimenez.

Could be the players, could be the organization sucks it out of them.

Just remember you can’t waste a year.

Thankfully with Chris Getz in place we fired and hired everyone a year ago, so that we didn't waste a year with guys who were slowing us down.

Could be that losing is now baked into the culture of this organization. Could be when you're terrible for so horribly long the stench spreads throughout and there's not a whole lot you can do when there's such a poorly constructed roster. Outside of a season and half in 20/21 this has been a losing team for 12 years.

Can't waste (only) a year. Must waste 10.

Well you know Chris knows this organization and he will expedite the process

So you're saying they're absolutely going to lose 132 games?

12-25

41-121

4-14

Since Getz failed upward, the chart is still going down, so he might not be wrong.

We'll take the ZIPS projection. Dan had us at 53. I can easily see 43-119. We're on pace for 36 wins so maybe I'm being optimistic. This team fucking sucks. Dan's entire writeup is worth the read.

As I said up top, the White Sox may win 20 more games in 2025 than in 2024, but at this point, I have very little faith that they’ve done anywhere near enough to put themselves in a position to be a good team in the future. I almost wonder if they need another record-breaking season to really turn around how the franchise is run.

Agree 100% with those sentiments...bring on more national embarrassment.  Basically, make WestEddy capitulate...

"Mired in mediocrity" would/could easily be the apex of this rebuild if there's insufficient FA spending on the position player side.

But at least we get to watch Jac Caglionone terrorize the AL Central for 7 seasons, lol.

Getz rubs me as if he does what he is told to do by JR. It doesn't say much for him  as a person. I realize that these GM jobs don't come around very often. But still, if I'm right about him following orders from JR he should resign. He can't be baseball stupid and has to realize this team isn't any good. He could have easily made this team better this off season and didn't. I've mentioned in the past how I wanted to be  interviewed for the GM job by JR. If JR would have had the good sense to hire me and if I had my hands tied by him I would resign.

I can't tell is this is a genius bit or in general what's wrong with allowing anybody to have an opinion online reaching thousands.  Have you and @greg775 even been seen in the same room together?

This has been one of the worst organizations in baseball since the start of the 2007 season. The record doesn't lie: 12 losing years, five winning ones and a .500 season.

Like many of JR's employees he loves the nice check and job security.

Should he resign? Probably...will he? Nope...he's got a family to feed and much like Williams and Hahn he'll never sniff another job in MLB so he does what he's told.

I’m sure he takes Jerry’s opinion into consideration, but it’s still no excuse for his awful talent evaluation.

Agreed which is why those thinking he should resign are dreaming, he'd never get another job in MLB so he's milking it for as much income as he can get.

Another guy who seems to have sold his soul to JR is Steve Stone. He has become a big time houseman for JR.
