People forget Dombrowski was running Tigers player development for years before their organization imploded and then he received a promotion to GM that no other team would have ever considered giving him.

Oh no... that was Getz? Never mind.

Welll done, good sir.  Well done.

What a coincidence....I am currently working on a book about professional knitting. I would love the opportunity to interview you on your favorite yarn types, needle sizes, and knitting techniques. Also, my readers would be thrilled to hear about the most challenging patterns that you've tackled and how you approach troubleshooting issues.

We can talk needles but I’m not gonna reveal my pro needle set, I don’t want copycats

I treat another's needle set with the utmost discretion I assure you.

If this listless team keeps losing  games I wouldn't be surprised if the manager gets fired before Getz gets fired. I would think if this losing keeps up the team might have a new manager by the All Star break.

What would have to happen for some of these guys to lose faith in this regime?

You guys seem to be missing the concept. I don't root for a baseball team to have something to get constantly enraged at. I find the team building interesting. The winning is fun, but if I was watching for some sort of release that winning brings, I wouldn't be watching sports, and I certainly wouldn't be watching the White Sox.

I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to keep finding ways to stick up for an organization that has totally collapsed.

And none of that matters. It's a rebuild.

It matters when your “big” trade chip is becoming untradeable. Would have been nice to see a few other vets turn in good/decent seasons too like Dejong, Banks, and Fedde did last season so they can be dealt for more than cash considerations but I don’t even see that happening. So now we’re counting on drafting and player development alone to dig out of this gaping hole? Good luck

Yep, I started a knitting team and brought in someone from Joann Fabrics who was fired and an assistant manager from Michaels because they believe in my vision.

This is Jerry-level operations: The accusations Joann fired at Michael recently means this is pure recipe for disaster.

Good thing the season is longer than 12 games.

It still doesn't matter.

Getz isn’t getting jack for Robert or anyone else on his garbage roster, just like he didn’t get jack for Fedde and Kopech last year.

Soon enough, we will be adding Vargas to the Chris Getz DFA tracker of his stellar trade returns.

And it does matter.

It does matter. Because one of the most important aspects of an mlb rebuild is flipping current assets for future assets that will be valuable when the team is, hopefully, competitive.

The total number of games before the trade deadline in July is approximately 105. So 12 games in is close to 12% of that total. Not insignificant. If things don’t turn around within the next few weeks for these trade candidates, I wouldn’t expect much of anything in return in 3 months and that is no bueno.

wait is this a real thing

Every time you respond he wins.

If Chris Getz spent less time here defending himself, and more time doing his job, the White Sox might not be in danger of back to back worst seasons in the history of baseball.

Can't believe some of you are still watching this team. I don't know how you can do it. They are literally hopeless.

Seems like you are watching to lecture everyone else on how they should be rooting for the team.

What else am I supposed to do? Watch the NBA or even worse, the NHL? And I'm more of a White Sox fan instead of an actual MLB fan. Very rare for me to watch two random teams I don't care about (outside of the playoffs).

I'd rather watch the worst White Sox team instead of no White Sox at all.

This is hilarious with Joann's in chapter 11.  I wonder if they are a candidate for the 78 as well?

Our first knitting thread. Special.

I'm not watching, though. I just looked at the MLB standings out of curiousity, and stopped by here to see how people were taking it. I found it hilarious to see Getz still spending more time here defending himself during this "rebuild" than trying to improve his dogshit baseball team.

Baseball is more or less dead to me. Same with basketball. It will take new ownership before I watch a single game from either hopeless, rudderless, pathetic Reinsdorf team. Their new network just completely cemented that.

Edit: For some reason I thought you were quoting me. My bad. Lol

That might be the best thing for Venable. He was a young hotshot and this team is probably going to irreparably tarnish that reputation. But if he gets out while Getz is still at the wheel, he can maybe spin it as though he was shackled to a completely hapless front office and is not at fault for the results.

Again, I don't expect a miracle of the manager who has to operate within this mess.  What I do want to see is a team that is smarter and plays cleaner baseball than we have for years.  Some semblance of baseball IQ, especially from the homegrown guys would be amazing to see for once.

Venable isn’t going anywhere unless he gets to Pedro level dysfunction

How in the world can you compare Dombrowski to Getz?  Dombrowski had won a World Series with the Marlins as their GM before the Tigers role.

This what is known as grasping at straws.

And depending on what day it is, winning or losing doesn’t matter according to him, because this is a rebuild.

In the offseason, I asked what the point of signing a bunch of veterans was and that it would make more sense to play young guys in what will be a non-competitive season.  I was told that you can’t set the loss record again.

Now apparently it doesn’t really matter if the Sox lose a ton of games and Getz sets the record again.

Congratulations, Chris!  It only took 12 games for the White Sox to once again have the worst record in baseball.  👏🏻

You want the White Sox to regularly start players you have declared to be hot garbage, just so you can scream that the GM is in "over his head". Making sense is something you can only dream of.
