The "Royalization" of the White Sox...

Not much to read there that isn't new under the sun.

It's still the Reinsdorf way.  Two roses grew out of a bed of s%*# and Reinsdorf is hoping for a 3rd but I still smell a turd.

I remember Grifol talking about what he seen from the Royals dugout concerning the Sox.  I guess he forget the habitual pile of s%*# in his own.

Obtaining people and players from habitual losing organizations seem to bring it with them.  Any players that come from winning organizations are often the ones a team has no issue with them leaving.

Wake me for the parade.  Meanwhile I'll look for a new team.

I think the Watson thing is being overblown, of course Getz was going to hire someone from the Royals to join his FO. That’s the only other org that he’s worked for. I’m just glad he didn’t being in Dayton Moore and his crazy, anti porn, evangelical incel ass.

I think the person who wants to turn the Sox into the Royals is Grifol, who should be fired immediately.

I'm so glad we have Paul Sullivan to point this out for us. God damn, it must be nice to write columns that are just "hey, look at this obvious s%*#!" and get paid for it.

The best part is he fucks up the first line.

Quote

Whenever Chris Getz hears Lorde sing “We could be Royals,” he must feel compelled to sing along at the top of his lungs.

She never says it in the entire song. Instead, she says "and we'll never be royals."

Next from Paul Sullivan: Dylan Cease did not have a great year. Maybe it's time he threw better pitches.

Wouldn’t the porn fan likely be the incel, and the married guy with three kids would be the opposite? I’m not arguing that he’s not crazy or evangelical, but words have meanings.

Heyman mentioned Moore as possible fit with the WSox still in his latest column

Mission accomplished.

Maybe there's a Weird Al version of the song we don't know about that's all about how the Sox are trying to be the Royals.

I would feel better if this headline said “The Raysation of the White Sox” or “The Astrosation of the White Sox”.

Heck, even the “Twinsation” or “Cubsation” would be better than “Royalsation”.

Its not 1980 anymore.

Literally just walk across the Camelback Ranch complex and ask Friedman to go to lunch.

The bravesation, our most comparable franchise who has built maybe the best offense in history, would be great.

There's a guy who started with the Braves as a scout and who worked his way up to an assistant General Manager position with the Braves by 2005 who is currently just a senior advisor of baseball operations for the team in Texas. He's probably available.

Not being a smart ass, but how are they our most comparable franchise?

Weird Al did do that song, but it's actually about Aluminum foil.

I never heard that. Still, that man is a national treasure.

Them and the astros would be the two other orgs in the “big market” rules of the CBA that can not truly handle max team salaries. So they don’t get extra firsts, they don’t get extra intl budget.

So like could you run the exact playbook as the Rays in the Sox and it still work? That extra stuff matters.

The braves market full of transplants has also made it a fickle fan base that needs wins to show up, which they’ve overcome a lot recently.

JR always looks at Yankees, dodgers and says no way they can be that. But the Sox have nothing preventing them from success when the braves have been as dominant as they have for 30 years

why?

Because this team was put together the way Jerry Reinsdorf wanted and it didn’t work. Because Jerry Reinsdorf did a great job; it can’t be a problem with the players, it has to be that they need veteran leadership. So, he decided that move is happening and found the only candidate for the GM position on earth who won’t tell him no.

it's certainly a factor, maybe one that can't be quantified. Perez intrigues me because he has a good attitude, other players take him seriously and we have two young catchers on the team that could benefit from his presence. His contract expires before we'll ever have a chance to win anything and I tend to think "vibes" is a bigger explanation for every Sox player falling off a cliff at the same time than everyone just suddenly becoming bad at baseball. The vibes are rotten and this is a team game pretty much more than any other major sport; and a sport where the slightest mental hurdle can turn you from a superstar into a minor leaguer. Does that mean Perez changes everything? Assuredly not, but you need someone like that that can actually bring a team together. You can read between the lines and see that there have been two clubhouses for the last several seasons, I think they hired Grifol because he's Cuban and American and speaks both languages, but that didn't fix anything. Should the Sox stop bringing in Cubans? No, I don't think so, but it probably means something when half the team speaks a different language and had to defect (never to return home) in order to play for the Sox. They probably feel a deeper connection with each other than they do the rest of their American or Dominican-born teammates. Hiring a gusano was probably the dumbest thing Rick Hahn could've done.

I don’t buy it that Perez can help this team. He is on a worse team right now and his presence isn’t helping them win, they need players. If the Sox bring him in then we can watch him breakdown in front of our just like Grandal.

we thought we had "players" this year and last. as I said, I don't think it's a coincidence when guys with track records all underperform at the same time. Again, not saying Salvy is the solution but the GM should probably try to address the issue.
