Wow, that $40M number is great than half the biggest free agent signing the Sox ever made, ha.

Craig Counsell signed what would be the 11th largest free agent contract the White Sox have ever given out. As a GM. We are not a serious franchise.

Why would a credible manager join the Sox? We went through this during the Renteria years when people were pining for Girardi or Francona or Bochy or Hinsch.   Credible managers will not com

Very true. This is just opening old wounds from times they should have launched or gone with better managers when they were available.

Counsell coming here makes no sense for Counsell (unless they are significantly overpaying).

5 years 40 Mil, highest contract ever for a MLB manager.

And the Sox won’t fire Grifol. Make it make sense.

Nobody wants to come to the Sox at this point. We aren't competing

I’d rake David Caruso over Grifol.

I wonder if Alex Caruso can get some sort of Jerry special Bulls/Sox contract

At this point, Slappy, Mike Caruso seems a better choice.

Reinsdorf, choking on his cigar "You mean to tell me this Counsell fella is forty-times better than Pedro?!?! These owners har har har"

If Getz wanted to whip his sack on the table at the gm meetings, he would have fired Grifol and hired Counsell.

Jerry would veto it on principle, even if Getz won the Powerball and offered to pay for both Counsell and Grifol's buyout out of pocket.

Ross pretty much won all these years and is out and yet the s%*# show on the south side keep the clown they got..

In the words of Harry Carey.....

I just can't figure it out.....

Once again the Cubs make a bold strike to try to get better (granted it doesn't always work out...) and it usually has some logic behind it.

What do the White Sox do?

Whatever JR demands and what usually makes the least amount of sense to even a casual fan.

Incompetent, dysfunctional and inept.

Only two White Sox Opening Day payrolls were larger than the combined $148M paid to Benintendi ($75M) and $73M Grandal ($73M). The first five years resulted in 2.7 bWAR with four more to go which may not even result in a positive bWAR number after nine seasons. Only four of the eleven seasons resulted in an over .500 record.

White Sox Nine Figure Opening Day Payrolls & Ben-Dal

  1. 2022 $193M 81-81
  2. 2023 $181M 61-101
  3. Ben-Dal Total $148M (TWTW Record Grandal 171-192 & Benintendi 59-92 year 1 of 5)
  4. 2021 $129M 93-69
  5. 2011 $128M 79-83
  6. 2008 $121M 89-74
  7. 2013 $119M 63-99
  8. 2015 $119M 76-86
  9. 2016 $114M 78-84
  10. 2007 $109M 72-90
  11. 2010 $103M 88-74
  12. 2006 $103M 90-72

Jerry.  Reinsdorf.

The cubs kick our sorry asses again. This franchise continues to be the worse in sports history. Is contraction the only answer?

The answer is new ownership which eventually will come.

It’d be fantastic if Jerry Reinsdorf wakes up tomorrow and decides it’s time to sell the White Sox

Or sell the farm ?

Pedro seems overmatched. Is there any way he could turn it around and become say, Al Lopez in a few years? My question is, despite my disdain for Pedro is there any hope he'll be top notch at some point?

He seems overmatchrd because he is.

Sox won’t even spend 40 million total on a player this offseason

After a few years, Carlos Sanchez became Yolmer Sanchez. Alas, he didn't get any better.
