Well, if he’s somewhere between how he was last year and 2022, you probably at least get similar offers at the deadline and what’s out there now.

The Yankees could still be an option. Hard to believe they are comfortable with the rotation they have..Clark Schmidt at the back end and a huge question mark on Rodon. I would think they still want another starter..push Schmidt into the 6th starter position.

And Cease is just a guy that has had consistency issues while playing in one of the worst divisions in pro sports. The stuff is there. The upside is there. The durability is there.  In the real world, this random GM you speak of may not be able to give out large contracts to starting pitchers and therefore can’t compete in FA with the big boys.  
 

This random GM might represent a team that hasn’t really competed for a World Series in decades and finds itself on the cusp.  
 

This random GM might not have enough pitching in his homegrown stables to compete with the big boys on the big stage.  
 

Cease at 2/20 just might be the holy grail to a GM in such a situation.  
 

This GMs rival might have just done Stroman for 2 years and locked up a pretty solid 150+ IP next year.

But yea, keep trying to make the trade values equal in the simulator.

This is good news at least.  You gotta love the big market teams that can sign a starter for $18.5 million a year as insurance.

This idea has been kicked around here. Stroman + Cease for about the same or less than what you pay for Snell. Clarke Schmidt should not stop them from adding.

If Yanks had got Snell, it for sure would take them out of Cease hunt. This signing hurts the Sox chances, but it’s not completely closed.   Just seems like it’s trending towards Cease staying.

Looks like Getz will need to settle for a couple of hiiters from Baltimore or take a chance at the trade deadline.

Dylan Cease at the trade deadline with an ERA in the mid 3s and his K numbers would seem a lot more likely to draw a seeing return than Dylan Cease now.

I know this isn't going out on a limb but holy s%*# that deal is going to be a complete disaster for the Yankees.

They don’t have the lefty hitter that the Sox would want but they still have the pitching.  But I have no idea if the Dodgers are still interested in trading for a starter.
