Guys like Sale, Hendriks had those issues, did some treatment, and then lasted many years before they needed TJS. The White Sox just successfully traded Santos after a strain like that. Did Santos have a diagnosed UCL sprain? I thought his was a flexor muscle strain. One can lead to another but it's different if it's diagnosed and the intervention has started.

And Tanaka was never quite the Yakamoto-esque ace he was close to billed and when KW offered him one of the biggest contracts in Sox history after the ARod debacle. He was more like a 2/3 for the majority of that deal…pitching at 85-90% previous effectiveness. We will see how long Santos lasts at max velo this year.

The one concern: Santos finished the 2023 season on the injured list with elbow inflammation. The Mariners plan to ease him into things during spring training in hopes he’ll be ready to go on opening day.
February 15, 20242 yr 0% chance Orioles circle back after getting Burnes. They already dealt the prospects they wanted to deal. Edited February 15, 20242 yr by Squirmin' for Yermin

Probably right, but let's see where their rotation stands in July. They could be one of many suitors looking for arm(s) without free agency to fallback on.

Actually the guy Getz should target since they will hold on tight to Mayo is Bradfield, along with Cowser OR Kjerstad. Not sure they even need a third piece like a Norby who might give you a 1.5 fWAR if everything goes right. Westburg is a necessity for the Orioles now after trading Ortiz and Henderson already having an oblique issue

"No comment" leaves open the silly notion that GMs are panicky dweebs who fall to their knees in tears at the first piece of bad news, but Getz is too honorable to say so. It's a silly question that deserves to be shut right down.
