Per FanGraphs, Crochet has 3.027 years of MLB service time, Kopech 4.041. Both will remain arbitration eligible from this point forward until they reach 6 years of service time, and both players have 3 years of minor league options available. He’s 3.028 service time and typically you need to hold a guy down 15 days to ensure they don’t a full year (172 days) since the season is around 187 days long. As such, we’d roughly have to hold him down for a month and a half, which is an absolute no-brainer.

That's why they have all those guys like Keller Toussaint Deivi Garcia etc. stacked up behind...and likely another final addition or two, either FA signings or waiver claims, in the final two weeks. Crochet and Kopech piggy backing each start is one certainly possibility...or flipping positions as the season goes on to limit Crochet's innings pitched totals.

I was also thinking Tanner Banks, although lefty-lefty wouldn't be ideal. Banks, despite the AAAA reputation, has been effective pretty much every season he's pitched in pro ball. He's never had a WHIP above 1.4. He has 100 pro starts. Now his FIP was a tad high last year, I guess because he doesn't have high K totals. And what I like best is that he minimizes the walks. Then you have Berroa and Iriarte as well that they might attempt to stretch out (obviously Berroa has already gotten hurt, but upon his return)...they're just going to have to throw lots of darts against the wall and see which ones can stick, simple as that. Well, Snell to SF doesn't help as that's the first or second toughest division in baseball. Obviously depends on offers, who's the GM assuming Preller's job is on the line...and any of their pitching prospects looking like they would be ready for 2025.
