I dont think it's a great fit either I just want to use the spectre of the Yankees leapfrogging BAL to make Elias grow a pair.

The Yankees actually signing Yamamoto would be much more impactful in that regard than the threat of trading for Cease.  Also, potentially helps with the Red Sox as well.

I don't love anyone, I just like almost no one in a Braves offer. Dominguez would be a good get.  Chase Hampton is a better pitching prospect than any Braves guy imo. Dominguez, Hampton and Lombard would be my ask.

And here I was with dreams of a quick Yamamoto signing and then waking up on Christmas morning, with smells of a wonderful breakfast emanating from the kitchen and the sound  of steaming hot cocoa on the stove, I arose to find multiple left handed savages from Baltimore all beautifully wrapped under the tree, bows and all, forcefully pried from the cold dead hands of Mike Elias with almost surgical precision.

Alas on 35th and Shields there are no feel good stories. Chris Getz wasn't the good and benevolent Santa and he was in no mood to deliver savagery. He was more like the evil Santa in A Christmas Story.

I don’t buy this. The posting window closes on the 4th, would be wild to wait until the very to finalize a deal.  Hopefully it’s all over this week but if not, I expect resolution by New Year’s.

That is still like 12 more days and we are literally dying here. A New Years deal still sucks. 

Yamamoto should get something done by Friday, Snell to SFG and Montgomery to TEX same day and then a bat heavy Cease deal done in the early hours of Christmas morning.

Wasn't Danks/McCarthy done near Christmas or New Year's?

Snell is a tough one to call.  SFG almost seems too obvious.  There are a lot of contending teams who feel he would be the difference maker but would prefer only a three year Mac deal like JR for pitching....when it's going to take 4 years in reality, and maybe even 5.

Sounds good to me!  Yamamoto just needs to stop being a diva and pick which teams he wants to take $300M from.  I think a Christmas Eve trade is far more likely for Cease than a Christmas one though.

We're more likely to end up with the equivalent of Micah Johnson.

Yamamoto to the Blue Jays or Mets works out best for the Sox trading Cease.

Hopefully we get something movement with Yamamoto between today and tomorrow.  Phillies actually submitting an offer means that we’ve finally moved to the actual bidding process.

Whoever offers the most AND offers an opt out after like 4 years probably gets him.

The Orioles and Reds aren't gonna sign him, so why wait to make moves? Because they aren't actually all-in on winning their divisions.
