Sox Interested in Dom Smith

Andrew Vaughn confirmed as opening day RF...

Would only make sense if they still plan on trading Eloy.

He’s absolutely terrible in the outfield

Gavin Sheets career slash line: .229/.290/.331 90 wRC+
Dom Smith career slash line: .248/.313/.407 97 wRC+

Career walk & strikeout rates are practically identical. Neither guy can play the outfield at all.

he also hasn't played there in years. I think this is who gets called up to DH when Eloy is injured in early April.

No I see why Pedro can feel it.

Or Eloy...

I was told that with Rick Hahn we were done trying to collect overhyped, failed-in-the-majors prospects like they're infinity stones.

I haven't watched those movies, but isn't the premise that whichever team first signs five failed first round picks, half of their losses poof out of existence?

Hell no!

At this point, I just want the White Sox to do anything. I keep refreshing Twitter just to see what happens to Canaan Smith-Njigba.

Love bat only guys that also don’t have a bat

He’d be a better pickup than Dom Smith.

Doesn’t make much sense as to how they are employed does it?

I can't even make a Royals joke, so only way this makes sense to me is if they're looking to do something with/about Vaughn?

I call absolute BS on this.

Just agent talk

Glut of DH’s on the market.  Nobody in a hurry to sign any of them.  Even Soler and JD.

Guys, he’s a 1b who is awful in the of and you think this makes NO sense for the Sox?  Cmon now!

This should sell some tickets.

Absolutely. I'd be down to see what that kid can do.

It’s a good thing the Sox didn’t sign Machado or Harper. If they did they might have been able to go after guys like Dom Smith now.

So he's a slightly less bad version of Sheets with the bat, and just as bad in the field. Unless he's replacing one of the DH stiffs already on the roster, I don't get it.

What a play by Getz leaking this info to put the pressure on Pillar’s camp.
