I will never stop thinking that the biggest mistake the White Sox made with this player was failing to put him in AAA for 2021. Give him as many innings as he can take, let him build is arm up post su

I struggle to see how him getting his ass kicked for 3.1 innings every 5 days does anything either.

So who takes the spot in the rotation?  Lorenzen or someone else?

In a middle relief role or do you make him a long-reliever? Touki has been terrible and shouldn't be guaranteed a spot whereas Banks could also be your long-reliever.

Roster Resource, after this news, has the rotation as: Fedde, Soroka, Flexen, Crochet (I highly doubt he makes the OD rotation), and Nastrini. You figure maybe one of the MiLB deal guys could make it or Lorenzen like you said.

Make him the closer and see how it goes.  This season will blow anyway

No reason for this given the chances of contention

So many other people have gotten grief, but this guy has never been able to get out of his own way, all of the way back to breaking his hand punching a teammate.

I'm surprised they didn't give him a chance to start in April, but hell why not, he's not showing anything positive in the spring either and that might as well count for something.

Yeah, the couple times I watched Touki pitch in ST he has gotten clobbered.

Yeah, guy is easily cut-able if you need 40-man space.

I agree. Kopech's biggest problem has always been Michael Kopech. He seems to be emotionally fragile.

He's a shadow of the guy he was last season.

It has been so frustrating watching Kopech pitch.  He seems to be in his head from the first pitch.  As someone else mentioned, Kopech's biggest issue has been himself.

I'm hoping going to the bullpen helps.  Maybe less pressure will be better...but I'm not optimistic.

Good. The hope would be that he shows something again as a bullpen arm and then move him.

Given how bad he's looked it's not surprising. Let him try closer.

No but the kid can't get out of the second inning. Put him in his most successful position hes had from the last few seasons and see if he can regain confidence. It seems they're trying to promote competition in camp so rewarding someone who is struggling would counter that.

I would like to go back in time to pre-2023 and tell people here at Soxtalk that the only pitcher in the 2023 White Sox rotation who will make a start for them in 2024 is likely to be Touki Toussaint.

Perhaps "let's trust Bannister" is no longer a good reason to justify stuff like the Mena trade or the guys they got from SD.

One of his key jobs was to save Kopech and he already failed.

Oh great. Bring back a complete asshole while you're going to be terrible again. Lots of fun!

From the hype he got coming up through the minors and the way he looked his first start vs the Twins, to this. Really encapsulates the failed White Sox rebuild

Nothing cracks me up more on sox talk than the amount of credit/belief given to coaches for established players development or lack there of.
