Brebbia — $7 million Maldonado — $4.5 million Nicky Lopez — $4.3 million Mike Clevinger — $3 million Mike Soroka — $3 million Chris Flexen — $1.75 million $23.55 million wasted on complete and utter crap. All players that are DFA candidates. This shouldn't be a surprise. Getz attended the Rick Hahn school of GM'ing after all.

May 28, 20241 yr Woodford sucks too. Let's keep that revolving door moving at the bottom of the roster. This team is a joke. Getz fucking sucks.
May 29, 20241 yr It's kind of ironic that we're mentioning another Sox pitcher, Tommy John, in this conversation. Tommy was a good and decent family man. A borderline HoF pitcher and someone any Sox fan would want to introduce their kids to.

It's absolutely incredible to me that JR who apparently wants to win "so badly" and is so fiscally responsible hasn't blown his top over the millions and millions of dollars wasted on has-been's, injury-prone guys, dead beats and stiffs. Just mind blowing.

The Royals spent serious money last offseason and just gave Witt close to $300M. I wouldn’t put them in the same category as Jerry especially right now as Jerry looks to trim payroll as they prepare to sell in the near future.

July 2, 20241 yr This would be a much better feel good story than Clevinger... Johnny Cueto just exercised his opt out from the Rangers. Seeks team that needs more immediate starting or long relief help. — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) July 2, 2024

Plus, this should be the time to give more innings to the Sox own pitching prospects.

If they took all that money to sign one really good player, everyone would complain about the poor quality of the rest of the roster around that one really good player.

That is just an argument for never trying. If they took the money wasted each and every year on dumpster diving they could gradually sign more 'good' players. All we are doing now is trading any good player we get or develop and wasting millions on garbage. If people thought there was a plan or could see a route to improvement they would be a lot more tolerant of a squad of one or two good players surrounded by developing players or journeymen. At the moment there appears to be no plan and just a scattergun approach to bringing up players and claiming players off waivers then sending players down or DFA ing them.
