I feel bad for anyone who would pay money to specifically watch Andrew Vaughn play baseball.

Doubtful.

No. He sells no tickets. he's just another guy. But I've been told on this site a lot ticket sales mean nothing. It's all about revenue sharing and TV money. Although you'd think parking would be significant revenue accumulator.

The Sox are the bottom of baseball but the Cubs probably are just as annoying to their fans. They are mediocre at best.

It would take a 40 game improvement for the Sox to be mediocre. 

Sox need several players including a DH that hits 30+ HR. I suggested Santander as one possibility. Spend some money and the team could conceivably get back to .500.

That was "mired in mediocrity" which is a death-like fate now with three clearly better teams in CLE KC DET.

It would take an awful lot to go right just to sniff the .500 mark in my opinion.

Odds are higher Santander becomes another albatross contract at that age were the Sox to sign him for 3-5 years...you're certainly NOT going to see that investment from Baltimore.  That's the whole point of having a productive farm system.

Santander would be very much a Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams type signing. 30 year old DH, .300 OBP, other than relievers that’s like their dream player.

That said, my current expectation is that Getz will sign a couple of his previous overpaid vets for leadership, keep Clevinger for his important leadership in domestic violence and teaching teammates how to harass a woman online, and drop the payroll down below $80 million. This will give Reinsdorf and the owners a big payday and also keep the payroll commitments low, making it easier to sell or move the team by limiting the cash they need to come up with for payroll. 

By comparison with that, I’d be ok with Santander, at least it’s an effort to improve.

The Sacamento A's will have a far better attendance.

This organization has created such a hole that without spending money it will be a decade and won't recover the fanbase.

Sure they are going to do what the other teams do but it has yet to erase bad teams.

They have a GM that has no business being in that position.

How did the Royals go from 106 losses to the playoffs in one year? Obviously they built around a generational talent in Bobby Witt Junior but one guy is not responsible for turning things around so dramatically.

Two guys: Witt and Salvy. Salvy had a great season, bad postseason. Our fans would have never wanted Salvy, too old like Abreu. Also Royals signed two "starting pitchers" who had great seasons and their bullpen guys were above average unlike the Sox wretched starters and bullpen. ... Also don't forget they owned the White Sox and the White Sox series came at perfect times for the Royals. They were starting to slip in each of them but sweeps of the Sox got them going again.

Obviously signing Lugo and Wacha and turning Aroldis Chapman into one of the ten best starters in the AL in Ragans...although he's already had multiple TJ surgeries, less overall wear and tear because of all the missed time and second surgery was a revision compared to complete reconstruction.  They already had Brady Singer.

Along with Witt Salvy Pasquantino.

They did stuff we would roast our front office for but they got lucky and it worked out.

They got the White Sox for 13 games. If it were 6, they were probably screwed.

Worst offense in baseball history isn’t a Santander away from being .500.  I do hope they add some sort of veteran bat on a short-term deal, but I wouldn’t go 3+ years for someone like Santander at his likely cost.

And there really is no hope on the horizon for a relatively quick fix. The catcher will help the catcher offensive numbers, but rookie catchers usually don’t hit much. Montgomery leaves a bunch of doubt.
