White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert

Highly doubt anything in the past couple weeks has moved the needle for teams.

He’s hitting .333 with a .929 OPS and he isn’t injured yet!  Positive thoughts!

  • I do not see Robert getting traded, as it would likely mean they sold low on him Sox are better off keeping him and hoping that he rebuilds his trade value

The whole world thought Nick was a high first round pick.  If the Sox didn't select him, someone else would have.  The Sox failed in developing him.  Luis Arraez and Kwan show you that it CAN be done

If they are getting two top guys they want, just eat the money and be done with it.

What would a Rangers package potentially look like for Luis Robert?

Dodgers' fans definitely speculating he would be the perfect fit over there...depending on prospect capital surrender.

They get to watch him on a daily basis in Glendale...after all.

And they really don't have a clear CF right now...really looks like Edman will play second.

He looks healthy and that's all that matters. If he's healthy, production will be there. Even when he came back last year he never looked right imo.

I still fear him getting injured before Getz gets a chance to trade him.

On this we agree.

I do too. I would have a pretty radical rest plan for him as it's the only thing that really matters, certainly more important than having him hit a game winning HR or something. I'd start him three days a week in the OF and twice at DH and let him rest the other two. It will never happen but if this org really was serious about maximizing the chance of a quick(ish) rebuild it would be implemented.

DH him as much as he will let you.

I have no idea if this guy has any contacts, whatsoever...

lol I just don’t think teams should really look at spring training numbers and judge one way or the other but if it’s true, I hope something gets done Robert inevitably misses a lot of time…again

I don't think it's spring training numbers, I think it's about how healthy he looks.

Mariner’s OF is already pretty crowded. They have the prospects but I just don’t see them making a splash at this juncture.

How healthy does he look every spring training?

Same.

They probably want to move one of them to RF which would be silly at this point in their careers. I think it's BS. Mariners are a notoriously staid franchise and one that will always choose the path of least criticism.

He doesn’t and he stole that idea from SoxTalk.

I don't know, but he probably looks "recovered" and has his power and strike zone judgement back that he didn't in the latter part of last year.

Idk I just don’t think anything he does or anyway he looks during Spring Training is going to move the needle on a trade (outside of another team having injuries and Sox coming down on price)

I think it could be like Cease. Somebody who was ready to pull the trigger on a deal, but an owner advised them to make sure he's healthy. I'm making all of this up, of course.

I think it’ll happen too, but not for the haul people expected.

I just hope they get a good SS or CF prospect.

They could probably get Acuna or Baty or whoever for taking on the Marte contract...and we actually need another outfielder, in all likelihood, but that will never happen if JR's still calling the shots.

He'll more than likely be happy to get some 80-120 range MiLB prospect back for Robert...just for the cost savings.

That was always the fear with Cease too. I’m not sure it makes a huge amount of difference by waiting. It would take more time than the Sox have to pump up his value to where we would be satisfied. In a different era where teams weren’t holding onto prospects, there could be more upside to waiting. We should just make our peace with the idea that we aren’t going to get what we’re looking for.

That was only part of the fear with Cease.

They weren't getting great offers on him because of his down year so , to me, it was more the chance of him being the 2023 version than the 2022 version.

When you're trading for a top of rotation pitcher you make decent offers. If you're trading for a #4 guy with a 2nd place finish in the recent rear view mirror your offers are a lot less.

If you hold him and he still pitches like the #4 guy that 2022 season is even farther in the rear view mirror and offers get worse.

Looking into the Mariners projected lineup, unless they are bumping a guy they just extended to the bench (Robles) which they could do, trade 2 years of Arozarena to move some money, and want to play Robert in a corner, the Mariners don't really seem like a fit.
