White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert

That's part of the problem - When you are buying guys in their late 30s, going for them to fill your DH role specifically because they're cheap and because your team isn't developing enough guys to fill that spot internally, there is a very high chance of it busting. Adam Dunn, Adam LaRoche, Edwin Encarnacion - 3 data points is enough to define a pattern. All of them seemed like smart signings at the time.

I don't think so.

  • I do not see Robert getting traded, as it would likely mean they sold low on him Sox are better off keeping him and hoping that he rebuilds his trade value

The whole world thought Nick was a high first round pick.  If the Sox didn't select him, someone else would have.  The Sox failed in developing him.  Luis Arraez and Kwan show you that it CAN be done

If they are getting two top guys they want, just eat the money and be done with it.

Dunn's signing elicited an ejaculation of happiness in Sox fandom. He was the obvious trade acquisition that should have happened in 2010, but didn't. He was the stat-head darling, the 3 true outcomes dream. He was going to save the franchise until he didn't.

LaRoche and Encarnacion were reactions to missing out on all the big pieces of that off-season.

Tucker to the Cubs

Luis Robert to the Reds as a counter????

Robert makes sense for the Astros too. Send Cam Smith+ to the Sox

I was not aware he was THAT popular.

It definitely did, until he came to the Sox and forgot to hit like he did with the Reds and Nationals.

That would be nice. If they had a re-draft of the 2024 first round, Smith would be pretty high on the list.

Astros could use Robert; their OF blows.

Maybe they'll want Julks back, too.

Using Cam Smith? I could actually see it. Don’t think they’ll do a complete tear down.

Yeah, I was thinking him and/or maybe Valdez, who they’ve been peddling a little bit,  via a three-way.

I thought the Astros were trying to cut some salary with that Tucker trade.  Not sure if they would want to add Robert’s money now.

Tucker also only has one year of control. I think they just knew they were going to lose him after this upcoming season.

Yeah, definitely.  But I saw an Athletic article that I can’t access but it talks about Houston “seeking sustainability.”  Not sure if this mentions what they are looking to do.

Phillies need a CF

A’s looking for a 3B

Some sort of Robert to Phillies and Bohm to A’s 3 team?

Starlyn Caba, Mick Abel, Max Muncy, and Denzel Clarke for Robert?

Thanks, just what I’m trying to do.

What’s your issue with that trade?

How are the Phillies going to trade Max Muncy?

Bohm would be sent to the As, and the As would send Muncy to the White Sox for the privilege.

In that case it's way too much for Robert. I doubt Robert is worth 55-50-45-45.

Philly could probably get Robert for Caba and Abel and just trade Bohm for the A's prospects. Although not sure the Sox would want Abel.

Who is the 50 FV guy in that deal?

Who here would do Crawford + Abel for Robert?

Abel.
