Larger shape 1B should def take that.

I'm sure he has insurance policy.   Hold out for $800 million

Juan Soto literally doubled his Washington offer.

If Vladdy has a repeat of his 2023 season, I don't think he's getting a contract like this at 27. Wish him luck though.

OT but I was thinking this morning … the max contract the Sox have ever dished out is 10 percent of what Soto and Ohtani got.  That’s just hilarious.

On the one hand that's pretty good money for a 1B/DH. On the other hand, in this market, he could probably get more if he has another good season.

The taxes in Canada are going to tank that contract. That’s probably why they can’t sign any big time players

Wow, I didn’t pay any attention to his stats after about the first half, and wow did his numbers go nuts in the second half.

Including 2025 he has made a guaranteed 47 mil, he can afford to bet on himself.

Eeeek…. Seems wildly risky for Vlad

Plus, the Canadian dollar is worth about 70 US cents.

This league is definitely heading for a lockout.

Despite his build, he's been very durable. His 156 games played in 2023 was the lowest in a full season since his rookie year, in which he didn't until late April. $340M is a lot to reject, but we don't know the years or AAV. Shouldn't be too hard to match or best those numbers on the open market.

I've actually seen that floated already by some as soon as the current CBA expires.

When does the current CBA expire?

As a Sox fan, this is very hard to wrap my head around. Your players...playing?

stupid question, but is that contract being listed as USD? or CAD?

Probably USD, as MLB is based in the US. But all we have is a supposed dollar number and no other terms.

USD.

Half would be taxed in the US in whatever state he's playing in. His Canada taxes would be 100% credited on his US return. You work in the US and the US takes their money.

Soto turned down 340ish and got 750

Ian desmond turned down 107 million and then made 8.
