I think it'd be a lot more than that. 172 days on active roster is a full year of service. He only has 12.6% of the 5th year. It's more like 120 games into the season he'll reach the 5 year mark. Not that it really matters, he's not getting optioned.

I’m pretty sure this doesn’t work like normal decimals - 4.126 years means he has 4 years and 126 days of service time. That’s like 4.8 years.

January 3, 20251 yr The option isn’t likely to be used, but is a solid insurance policy in the event his May to Sep hitting from last year carries over.

I guess baseball loves to use unconventional decimals. As we all know, when a guy pitches six and a third innings, it’s 6.1 innings instead of 6.333.

It makes no sense even if the INF wasn't already super crowded. Makes even less sense now.

January 3, 20251 yr It’s not going to happen obviously, but trading Robert for Lux would be even dumber now than ever before.

They also all have options which is a nice plus. I’d rather keep them then add a true dumpster dive SS. I don’t want a dumpster dive SS either, I want Kim. He’s 29 years old. Don’t see why they couldn’t afford a 4 or 5 year contract for him at the projected AAV I’ve seen thrown out for him. edit: just saw he signed for 3, $22M. That’s a joke, Sox should have easily beat that.. Edited January 3, 20251 yr by JUSTgottaBELIEVE

He's a $100-150 million player without that hanging over negotiations.
