Amaya. He gone. UPDATE: He back.

He was solid in the field. Still, you have to hit something. Seemed like a decent guy. Good luck in the future.

I wonder when Wiki will update the notable alumni page of South Hills High School?

Not that any of this really matters, but it  begs the question, why didn't they just DFA DeLoach the first time? Minds were changed based on what?

A shortstop they expected didn't materialize on the waiver wire?

Getz kept Colas over DeLoach?

I'll be damned.

Luka Doncic is distracting everyone so they can sneak DeLoach through waivers.

It serves as further punishment for Colas for...reasons.

He must really hate Colas to make him stay here.

My guess is that part of the calculation here is who you think will get claimed and who won't.  Maybe they though Amaya had a better chance of sliding through vs DeLoach?  Or Getz doesn't know what he is doing.  Who knows.

All of it

"As a prospect in the Mariners and White Sox systems, DeLoach was well-regarded not because of any standout individual tool but because he possessed average — or close to it — tools across the board. He’s an above-average runner who swiped 20 bags in 2024 and popped 23 homers in 2023. He walks in well over 10% of his plate appearances but has also fanned in more than a quarter of his plate appearances the past two seasons. DeLoach has experience at all three outfield spots. He can handle center in a pinch but is best suited in left field."

Given that the Sox have basically two good OFs  in the entire organization  (Robert and the prospect they got in the Crochet trade) , I would have liked to keep DeLoach around.  I guess they are going these "proven" 30+ year olds with no power instead of the DeLoachs.

Looking over the 40 man, still a ton of what appears to be available space on the pitching side.  What was the point of trading for Boozer?  He's not a flip candidate - they won't get a prospect any better than what they gave to get him (See the Banks trade).

COUNTERPOINT: If a left-handed hitting outfielder couldn't distinguish himself in 2024 to make Tauchman superfluous, they've burned their chances.

Cam Booser can actually be valuable at next year's TDL. He pitches well, makes the minimum, has 3 options, and 6 full years of control. The FutureSox guys have surmised that Booser can certainly bring back better than Fajardo at the deadline.

That Santos trade is looking like hot garbage right now.

But perhaps this move indicates they will keep Montgomery down for a bit, which is good.

  • Heads22 changed the title to Amaya. He gone. UPDATE: He back.

I guess Getz had a plan for SS that didn’t work out and now needs to double back?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an extremely low % chance, but I’d rather bet on DeLoach being useful than Amaya. Maybe Colas will actually get a chance at RF/DH now though

Berroa and Larsen for Santos seems okay to me.

Prelander Berroa could possibly be in the Sox' bullpen, and Blake Larson was the pitcher they took with the Mariners' Comp. Balance pick. I really don't know where you come up with this stuff.

I will say that I remain greatly concerned about Gene Watson leading our pro scouting group and this doesn’t make me feel any better.

Yeah us quitting on trade acquisitions so quickly seems bad.

Exactly my point.  Not every target is going to hit obviously, but this dude could barely crack a blackhole in RF and now is gone a season later.  No idea what they saw in him while with Seattle’s AAA team that changed so suddenly.

Berroa will walk the world.  Good luck with that bullpen arm.  It won’t be pretty.
