  • Are you this interested in sources when it's a story that would be "negative" towards the White Sox? Jeez.

  • No you didn’t. You posted a video of Wheeler saying they were looking at houses in a number of places and the money was “close”. AJ Pierzybski said that he took less money. Wheeler said the money was

Crazy money.  Cubs are probably better off in the long run considering their top prospect is a 3B.

Turned down a reported 6/$156 from Houston in November

JR just crapped in his pants! 😆

Glad he didn't go to the Cubs.

3 years, $36M short. If he doesn’t completely fall off, overall he can beat that.

But he had already turned down 6/$156 from the Astros.

$26 million per year.

Didn't take a school of a haircut as Alonso.

Cubs' fans still have Shaw.

Feel the same way about this deal as Chapman a year ago at third for SFG.

That wouldn't have been a great deal for Detroit and Hinch, and they have an array of other options like Viewing and Keith...but Detroit is definitely now the team to worry about in the Central if the son starts spending as owner like the father once did.

JR is still reeling from that Benintendi signing.

Marketing opportunities are that much higher in Boston versus "flyover" territory?

Seems to be a bit like the Wheeler decision where the wife strongly preferred Philly.

I think the wife preferred the $40M/yr.

5 years/$118 million was the original contract at the time the Phillies and White Sox were both vying for his services, ultimately signing with Philly.

$23.6 million/year

I know that. And $40M/yr is what Bregman is actually going to get paid. That's what I'm referring to.

So she wouldn't have been HAPPIER with 6 years and $156 million in Houston, or the 6 years/$171+ offered by the Tigers?

Because he's not going to get another contract like that again at age 33....even with relatively big offensive numbers induced by 81 games played at Fenway.

The upcoming lockout is going to be brutal - I think it will be worse than 94.

Most Cubs fans I know were convinced they were getting Bregman. I look forward to their tears.

Sadly, they are likely better off without him in the long run at this price and the fact that they have Matt Shaw.  Nightengale said their final offer was 4/$120.  $40 million AAV for Bregman is crazy money.  Also, not spending this money on Bregman could help them resign Kyle Tucker next offseason.

Dems the rumors.  Cease, yes.  Turner, only if he’s short-term and cheap.  Dude is 40.

I think the Nick Pivetta signing for Boston moving here. They lose pick #54 for Bregman but they receive #75 for Pivetta. They also forfeit $500K of international space. The Cubs otoh, would’ve forfeited 2nd, 5th and $1 million in international space.

3/120 is significantly better. Good on him
