At some point perhaps Hobson/George Lucas decide to combine shares with Michael Reinsdorf and just box him out. That would be beating Ishbia at his own game. You are literally nuts. Jerry went to Ishbia with this opportunity. His sons aren’t keeping the team long-term and Hobson is not part of the equation. Absolutely wild that you’re trying to wish your way to a different outcome than the one that’s all but certain happen just because you hate private equity companies.

I don't care what the outcome is at this point, I really don't. But be careful what you wish for my friend.

Possibly yeah but if Jerry is still the general partner he still has the control regardless of the share count of the limited partners.

I'd bet he loves Winnetka's North shore more than the South side of Chicago. But who knows what anyone's long term intentions are? Nevertheless, the old axiom that money talks may apply, especially to a billionaire corporate raider. I agree with Reinsdorf on one (and only one) thing - The White Sox are worth more out of town than they will ever be worth here. No amount of money can change the dynamic here with the Cubs as the dominant baseball franchise in town. Ishbia knows that which is one reason that he may seek greener pastures. So you think he was trying to move the Twins? Or that there is no basis for thinking this guy was going to move a team he bought, just like the last team he bought? Though as an ex-IRS and real estate mogul it is pretty ironic to NOT hear Jerry's motives questioned by your own standards, especially as the one guy in this conversation who made a conditional agreement to move the Chicago White Sox. At least put some more effort into a portmanteau. Even something like Mar-Chi-Cago would have been acceptable. 1

Lip Man 1
I honestly can't think of a lot worse than the current Sox situation with the current person in charge. After a promising start 44 years ago things started to go right down the toilet over time. I'll take my chances with someone else calling the shots. 3

Be careful what you wish for, the grass isn’t always greener, or whatever other idiom you want to use don’t apply when you already have one of the worst owners in not one sport, not two. 🤣 Edited March 4 by WhiteSox2023
