Opening Day Thursday 3:10 p.m. versus Angels (not the game thread, lol) Who's going???

Featured Replies

Cloudy

°F°C
Precipitation: 25%
Humidity: 71%
Wind: 8 mph
Weather
Thursday
Cloudy

Weather forecast has cooled off by about five degrees or so...looks like most of the rain during that day will be early morning or later at night.

Opening Day Attendance last year was 33,000+.   The weather was a little nicer/sunnier than this year will be.

The Angels have pretty much no compelling stories other than Mike Trout and the ex-White Sox...for those few souls primarily motivated to watch Anderson, Moncada and Nicky Lopez, haha.   It's going to be a pretty big story if White Sox attendance falls below 30,000 IMO.   Believe it will come in very close to that number, +/- 1,500 either side of 30,000.

LFG!

Im glad I am a current Hawkeye season ticket holder as I think this coming year will be a much hotter ticket than recently it has been.
Wow! I commend you. Talk about sticking through things thick and thin.

White Sox season ticket holder last season, also?

The lowest attended home opener i remember was 1999 and I think they drew 25k. I think it'll be more than that. I'll be there. It's pretty much a holiday for me. It's been a while since I've been to a game where they had a .500 record.

The first year post Belle and Ventura.  Konerko had just been acquired for Cameron.   And we thought fan "anger" was high then....look at that line-up compared to 2024/2025, lol.  Of course, the 1997 White Flag Trade didn't help matters.

1999 Comiskey Park II. Attendance: 1,338,851 (13th of 14, 16,529 average).

Feel pretty confident they're not going to get 1.3 million in attendance this season...

1999 Opening Day lineup

Ray Durham, 2B

Mike Caruso, SS

Frank Thomas, 1B

Paul Konerko, DH

Magglio Ordóñez, RF

Greg Norton, 3B

Jeff Abbott, LF

Darrin Jackson, CF

Brook Fordyce, C

James Baldwin, P

The season starting in Chicago against a team in LA is insane scheduling.

This is such a tired, lazy argument.

It's a high of 53. 8 days later, the Cubs open to a high of 52. 7 days after that, it's a high of 46.

I'll never forget 2020, the day that would've been the 1st Saturday home game was beautiful, I was so depressed to not be there. A week later...snow.

2 years ago, the Sox played Baltimore on 4/15 and my wife and I got sunburned in the bleachers. A week later, they were freezing their asses off on the north side.

Chicago weather is unpredictable, waiting a week for the home opener is pointless. Waiting 2 weeks is pointless, too, and the league would never do that and risk a team being 2-10 or something for their home opener.

mlb.com beat writers

Anderson and Moncada will end going 8-20 with 2 home runs and 9 driven in for the series and never be heard from again

Trout will resurrect MVP chat and then be on the IL a week from now

Is Moncada even healthy?

Cool, man. I was specifically talking about it being against an LA team.

Hope the weather is good for those who are going. I will never go to a home opener in March.

Just gotta overdress. It wasn't that bad last couple of years.

The Sox haven't put up an attendance number of under 1.35 million since their 2nd to last season at the old ballpark when the put up 1.045 million.  I think this year comes closer to the latter, than the former.

You can get tickets for "as little as" $40 (including fees) on SeatGeek.  That's reasonable, but compared to $9 for Monday's game...

I'm going. I wouldn't miss it for the world. Hopefully this will be a great season!!!!

Only if you would have been the GM.

I'll be there. Bought the $125 pass, and I'll already be at my office downtown in the am. Pretty easy to sneak out and head down to 35th and shields for a couple hours.

Why the f*** would this not be the game thread? If you're gonna just splurt all over the forum with non sense please stop making threads. I am begging you. Or just act normal for once in your life. It's seriously impacting my ability to the use the forum and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I love the optimism and for fans like you I hope this organization figures it our AND Jerry sells the team.

I will not spend money on this team/organization until they care about people like you.

Probably because the last winner thread has the right to make it from Detroit series last year.  That has always been the way it works, last Sox winner thread starter initiates the next one.

Whoever that is…is that not common courtesy?

Weather is not important or relevant to an Opening Day in Chicago?

The other reason is because I’m not even sure about waking up at 4:00 am tonight when the actual lineups are posted officially.

It’s going to be a long season if people are going to fight over posting styles or how much of a true fan someone is or how bad a GM Getz is all season long.   Jesus.   How about you start some threads around here then if you want to optimize your fan experience?

I at least took time to find the starting lineups…as well as projected rosters from reading different sources, pardon me for actually caring about this fucking frustrating franchise.

(I also can’t help it I was right about Shane Smith and Chase Meidroth…)
