WestEddy
Oh, and he's 1-13 with 4 Ks and an error in LF for the Pirates. Yes, we should have run through walls to acquire him as a centerpiece of the next White Sox dynasty.

Do you ever get tired of misrepresenting and outright lying about what other people say? I said numerous times that Canario could easily bust, but that I would still like to see what he could do on this terrible team (which is now 2-8), just because it is more worth it for a terrible team to play youth over old worthless vets. See my posts below for evidence. Funny that a poster who said last year that he would be fine with Corey Julks being a platoon corner outfield starter for this 2025 Sox team is now running his mouth about other potentially bad acquisitions. Also, if Canario is a bust after 13 at bats or so with the Pirates, what does that make your favorite GM’s amazing acquisition Miguel Vargas after he has had many more at bats with the Sox? I only give as good as I get. I actually wouldn't have minded Canario. I didn't see how he fit into Getz's plans - he's not a defensive replacement, he's got big swing and miss issues they're trying to steer the organization away from. You will probably bring up Greg Jones, who has elite speed, and is seen as aproviding potential elite CF defense. Apples and oranges. An actual replacement player vs. a 1-dimensional project. I don't see the point of thinking Getz will build through waivers. Joey Bart is like the only guy in the last season and a half we've seen come over the wire that Getz really missed the boat on. It's actually funny that on Aug 1, our two best rotation starters could be the two Rule 5 pickups.

It's actually funny that on Aug 1, our two best rotation starters could be the two Rule 5 pickups. Getz’s plans? Were his plans to be 2-9 and the team looking as bad as his record setting team from last year, with more bad veterans getting playing time? Why can’t someone bring up Jones? He is an even worse strikeout machine than Canario. Elite speed and defense is great but at some point he would actually have to be able to hit. Otherwise, just bring back Billy Hamilton if you want a bench player that can pinch run and backup CF. Also, it was Joey Bart and Victor Robles. That’s two starting players on two other teams, except Robles just got hurt of course. But both guys, if healthy, would start for the Sox. Why shouldn’t Getz be using all possible means to rebuild the roster, including through waivers? Finally, your predictions don’t usually turn out too well so you may want to delete that last sentence/jinx. Taking victory laps over missing the point, or ignoring the point, or simply refusing to acknowledge the validity of said point. Canario is just a guy. Talented, but flawed. But he’s exactly the type of guy Getz should be acquiring and giving a long look vs playing the Jankowskis of the world everyday. It’s not even really about Canario, but more about Getz’s imbecilic backwards process, and his refusal to do everything possible to improve the long term future of the team. 2 1

I also would have loved to have Candelaria. At least he's interesting. I want Burger, Candelaria and VIciedo and that other fan favorite guy, Colas, in my lineup. Why not?

Colas is nobody's favorite...unless they're connected to Clevinger somehow.
Dominikk85
Canaria was a good prospect but he just strikes out a ton and has done so for most of his minor league career. He does have some pop and hits at high launch angles but really not doesn't hit hard enough to justify a 30+% k rate.
WhiteSox2023
Canario with a home run and two walks tonight for the Pirates. He's also playing CF. Would have loved seeing him in our lineup over Palacio, Taylor, and Maton. A 24-year old with power over wasting at bats on these three bums. We already know what the future holds for Palacio, Taylor, and Maton. At least Canario still has a shot. https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2025/2025-04/12/3cdef3fd-8cb1f852-7fd14b48-csvm-diamondgcp-asset_1280x720_59_16000K.mp4 Edited Sunday at 01:36 AM by WhiteSox2023 2

Michael Busch last offseason and Ben Rice this offseason. But it looks like only Busch may have been available.
