Chase Meidroth getting promoted

If Youkilis is the Greek God of Walks...what ethnicity is Meidroth?

Four-spiel?  Something like that was his Red Sox nickname for four balls.

Now do Quero.....no reason not to. Give us something to watch.

100% agree!

"This is intentionally deceptive because Pedroia showed a lot more power than Meidroth has below AAA. That was the only level he didn't have an ISO above .160. He had an ISO of .184 in AA for example. So you knew there was power possibility there. Meidroth has never had an ISO above .122 except for a small sample in A ball."

Teams are pushing their prospects these days.  When Quero, Teel and anyone else is  ready, bring him up (with exceptions for the date where you get an extra year of control); nothing to be gained languishing in Charlotte.
I can't remember the Sox rushing prospects in the last decade or so, except for a few pitchers rushed into the bullpen.

Why can't the Sox draft someone like Meidroth?  Ever.

You don’t remember rushing Andrew Vaughn?  Oscar Colas?  I’m sure there were many others during the second half of the KW / Hahn regime.

We’re losing 110 games at minimum.  Call up the prospects when they show that they are ready.  Meidroth met those conditions.  Quero and Teel will be up at some point, but both could use a bit more minor league seasoning.

I understand that the Sox don't need either player now.  I just don't think it does the player any good to leave them in the minors when they are ready for the majors.  And not much good ever happens for the Sox in Charlotte, anyway. It's like a back hole.

Anderson, arguably, was rushed.  Presuming Vaughn hit well at the alternate site, I'd say, no, he wasn't rushed.  He looks like a hitter - he just can't hit.   Colas may have been rushed.  Now he's been de-rushed.  He may be the next OF candidate.

And I think Meidroth was already done. They just wanted to give him a bit of a runway of success instead of dropping a slumping IF onto his first opening day roster.

I’m sure they wanted the extra year of control, which was the right move anyways.

Meidroth seems like the type of the player the previous regime was seemingly allergic to. He can play multiple positions, he sees a ton of pitches, and he gets on base at a high clip. He’s the type of player the Sox have been missing for a long time. Hahn/KW wouldn’t even sign bench/UTL guys like that in FA.

Edit: Spelling

Good point.  I think they tried with Madrigal, but they were just obsessed with the high batting average and low strikeouts and didn't realize that he couldn't draw walks.  He just weakly swung for contact when he was down to 2 strikes.

The 2016 rebuild didn’t fail because the Sox didn’t sign Machado or Harper. It failed because they drafted so poorly. Spending a top 5 pick on a weak singles hitter is so so so so dumb.

Meidroth is a breath of fresh air, and it fits a theme. The new regime has been targeting hitters who’ve shown the ability to get on base consistently. Would like to see Meidroth, Vargas and Tauchman in the same lineup

You remain undefeated. I don’t know how you do it. You could plop me into any random thread and give me 24 hours to come up an obscure reference, and I couldn’t come close to the randomness you come up with on a regular basis.

Moving past random Steve Bannon references, Chase Meidroth is currently on a ~16 fWAR pace.  What happens if he ends up winning rookie of the year?  I know that since he isn’t a top 100 prospect anywhere, we won’t be eligible for draft pick compensation if he wins.  However, would we lose a year of service time if this were to happen?

We would trade him for more prospects before he turns into another pumpkin.

Teel is like 3/40 since his first two games, so I feel like he's got plenty to prove still. Quero should be up once Narvaez stops looking playable. Both will be here by June regardless. Which will make for some interesting roster decisions since Lee and Thaiss are legit big leaguers.

As much as I'd love that, Colson is the cruel reminder to not count chickens.

If you have both Teel and Quero, that means one is DHing and one is catching. To me, you have the option to carry a 3rd catcher.

Logically they'd keep developing Lee as a youngish RH option...which of course means they end up trading him instead of Thaiss.

If MLB ends up punishing the Sox for having the ROY I give up .

My current thinking is only those eligible as top 100 guys  get the extra draft pick sort of as compensation for losing the year of eligibility. But I'll admit that's my shot in the dark guess at making sense of those things.

I think that’s correct
