Crochet speaks...

You do everyone in the Sox organization a great disservice if you are trying to say Crochet alone is responsible for his success.

I'd like to recommend all people interested in the process of developing Crochet in the off season leading up to his breakout as a starting pitcher in 2024 go here

I'd recommend listening to the whole thing but they don't get into talking about Crochet until the podcast is half over.

Just listening to Bannister talk about elite training year round for pitchers, Trajeckt Machines, Tommy John surgery etc. is a must for anyone who wants to really know how developing Crochet was a true team effort.

There is also so much more out there from Crochet too crediting the people in the organization . Might be an interview with Crochet too somewhere in the Baseball Isn't Boring Podcast episodes.

I think anyone interested in being fair has to acknowledge the Sox had a strong role in getting Crochet to where he is right now.

This is a great post, and it actually does give me hope that Getz's personnel decisions have merit.

The cynical side of me thinks that this, coupled with Crochet's comments about his experience in arriving to the Red Sox, paint a picture of the Sox as a high-end minor league team that develops guys until they're ready to get the full big league experience in a place like Boston.

Ha!  I don’t know if I ever would use that list even if i wasn’t an admin.  how else would I know that tray is calling someone a liar about where they live because he doesn’t like their opinions on the Sox? Can’t find that kind of entertainment everywhere, and then as an added bonus we get his thoughts on billionaires so honestly what’s the hall of fame list even for

It’s a good filter for garbage. I should be on it for many users. 😆

And he would have still ended the game going 7.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and 11 K's.

Crochet will be in contention for AL Cy Young this season, and the White Sox have the fewest wins in the American League.

So I ask...

1. My point is that the White Sox were better than Boston over this weekend.  So how about, oh, I don't know . . . . . ., actually enjoying that it happened.

2. Shane Smith should have left the game giving up one less run than Crochet. And also, that as Crochet contends for that Cy Young, there might be some of those votes going to a young, former Rule 5 pick, from Chicago.

So your flex is that the worst team in baseball didn't hit, and committed a key error to lose a game they didn't have to lose and that is supposed to be some sort of in your face moment?  Dude that is literally the reason everyone is so pissed off.  People have been watching exactly that on the field for years and are sick of it.  I think you finally discovered the point.

So your point is that you're sick of seeing a young,  inexperienced player not make a play, after you have continually complained about the Sox playing older players who have no upside and we need to be playing younger players from the system.

I get it now: you're pissed off that you got what you wanted, but it this case it didn't work out, so you're sick of it. Okay, I see it now.

I have no idea what you are going on about now if you are trying to take a victory lap over the Sox blowing a game just like they have blown an untold number of games over the last couple of years in similar fashion, but somehow that is a victory because it was the kid we were playing out of position because we haven't developed an internal OF in something over a decade?  Sure.  Yes, I am definitely sick of it.

Who was that, even?

Aaron Rowand? Chris Young?

(To argue Eloy or Robert beggars belief.)

Based on his hot start this year, it might actually be Alex Call.

it just seems petty and disrespectful. Fenway Sports Group is arguably as incompetent as JR (although Liverpool looks great), does Crochet know that?

he's saying a nice thing about the team that just made him one of the richest men to ever exist, but I don't know why they always have to talk trash.

I can't remember who it was, but one of the big baseball reporters wrote a longform piece on the White Sox and how shitty of an owner JR is.  Within that article were many examples of extreme cheapness reaching waaayyy beyond just payroll.  I can't remember examples, but just cutting corners on just stupid s%*# that every other team in the league takes care of for their players.

And the players, especially the ones who see how things run on a day to day basis, are the ones that see it first hand.  Even a player who was here last year after all of these major changes were made last year was saying how much better a place like Boston is being run.  It is easy to hand wave away fans thoughts, but when players and front office peers see it, it is harder to discount those thoughts.

🙋‍♂️ I don’t mind it. They deserve it.

When you lose as long as the Sox have lost and your owner has made it clear you are suckers as fans and you can either root for this crap product or take a hike, you get jaded and don't mind criticism of the wretched team/organization. Jerry hasn't apologized once, has he, for this crud?

It was a long form story in the Athletic dated last September 19 by Brittany Ghiroli and ken Rosenthal.

The headline was:

"An owner who 'thinks he knows everything' led the White Sox to historic disaster"
