Why can't my man just be healthy.

FWIW, in order:

Zeke Bonura (233 hits)
Frank Thomas (220 hits)
Jose Abreu (215 hits)
Luis Robert Jr. (200 hits)

Love a legendary Zeke Bonura reference

Which again shows you’d rather have him flop than return to form

I want him off the team, yes. I would love for him to return to form over the next two months so they can get him off the roster and actually get something more than a bag of balls in return.

Trade talk starting to become much more viable again.

MLB stolen base leader and 5 homers now.

Extension lol?

If we had a decent owner...Crochet and Robert in his prime would be actual building blocks.

The more I watch the Phillies, the more I think they trade for Robert in the next few months

Rojas has decent numbers so far but Brandon Marsh has been really bad...

Rojas always a complementary type of role player.

PCA with seven homers at this point a total shock to all but most die hard Cubs' fans.

Yea, I think it’s too much even in a one for one trade. I don’t think Robert returns a T100 MLB prospect at this point. Just not enough surplus value there as the option years at $20M per aren’t a bargain by any means if he isn’t better than a 2 WAR player now.

Plays like this for another 6-8 weeks and he's definitely returning a top 100 prospect or two. Big if tho, one streaky dude!

That's because we are infected with the habitual losing small market disease.  We might as well be Marlin fans. Never talk of signing players unless they are s%*# and talk about getting a myth (haul) for the good ones. It wouldn't be so much an issue of they could draft and develop other than pitchers.

Only in fantasy sports.

The problem is no one in the system can play CF to replace him.  No GM is going to give one up.

Somehow the way the Sox luck is he'll get hurt before the deadline and if there is any trade it's a salary dump.

But we have Greg Jones...who hits better than Amaya, slightly.

I will be sad if Sox trade Robert. He's young enough to be a cornerstone, especially in CF. Except for the statlovers/rebuilding lovers the trading of Robert will be so depressing for our fanbase. Robert is fun to watch. Why can't fans be given some ballplayers actually fun to watch?

Trading him will be an all time buzzkill.

Up until two weeks ago we didn't know he was even going to turn his season around...or end up as anything but another version of 2024 Moncada.

Half of us wanted to hold on and roll the dive that he would be productive AND not injured...the other half wanted to dump him for the best possible deal out of ST.

All true. However now that he's emerging it would serve as total buzzkill, another symbol of our inept organization. What it tells normal fans in other cities and most Sox fans in chicago: "The White Sox have one incredible player. As soon as he blossomed in a Chicago uniform, the White Sox dumped him for 3 prospects who are can't miss. The White Sox don't want good players is the lesson here. They want perpetual prospects to save $$s."

Also trading him won't get nearly what many on here want or expect.

Unless we luck out with a bidding war between 2-3 teams AND also are willing to trade him inside the AL Central this time around...probably for injured Luke Keaschall lol.

Hey, he’s up to 61 wRC+ and -0.2 fWAR. Improvement! Their problem is the Sox are already more than a quarter of the way through their games prior to the trade deadline and he’s dug quite the hole. Next 30 games will have to put up a ~140 wRC+ just to get back to a league average hitter!

Five days after this post and Robert is already at an 93 wRC+.  The dude who cares more about being right than a White Sox player succeeding is hopefully about to eat a fuckton of crow.

.346 .469 .731

 1.200 ops last seven games

.845 ops last 15 games

Tied for second with Elly de la Cruz 13 stolen bases

Between Vargas, Robert, Quero and Meidroth that a lot of OBP in the last week. Combined I'm guessing it's an easy .400 in the past 7 or 8 games.

I think we're past that stage.  We just want the best return as possible for what he is.

We know it won't be as good as we got for Crochet but hopefully not that far from it.

If he keeps this up in 2 weeks Getz could be fielding decent offers because he might be at 1.5 WAR by then.

Even though you already have 22 players in MLB already at or above 1.5 with Judge approaching 3 it would be a huge improvement over a good month of sucking.

I am curious how Robert does this year with Venable as the skipper. It is early but Robert is taking walks, stealing bases, staying in the lineup, and really starting to click at the plate.

Knowing Robert, this is about when the injury happens.

If he’d lollygag like the Hall-of-Fame skipper wants him to, it wouldn’t be a problem, now, would it?

You're right Greg .Just when the team is starting to play a little better  led by the resurgent Robert, JR. It will hurt to trade him.

However this is what we wanted . He's hurt way too often just like Crochet was but he has so much talent that a healthy Robert who walks and steals, plays very good defense and hits bombs is also highly enticing to teams looking to make a major impact at the trade deadline.

The only winning future is to find at least 2 more productive , cheap players  you can stick on the team for 6 years like Quero or Meidroth, Teel , Braden Montgomery,   or  Noah Schultz , Hagen Smith , Grant Taylor, Shane Smith or maybe even Miguel Vargas. Maybe in 2 years the Ishbia's can resign Robert as a free agent.

Off topic,  but it just occured to me that Venable is very close to the word Venerable which means " accorded a great deal of respect especially because of age ,wisdom and knowledge. "  Carry on !

I swear I've not once seen anyone yet call him the Venerable Will Venable, probably because it's a bit over the top.

That GS robbery might end up being the key moment in turning his season around when all is said and done.
