Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider ke

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

Instead, they paid him ~$14M over the past year to watch his trade value erode. Brilliant.

Getz needs to hurry up and trade Robert, people’s brains are melting in real time in this thread.

Robert got like 8 hits and people are suddenly being picky about the return of arguably the worst hitter in the sport over the past 2 calendar years.

The player being discussed is a slow, RH hitting 1B / DH who is currently posting -0.4 fWAR and currently has a lower xwOBA than the player you just called the “worst hitter in the sport over the past 2 calendar year”.

Is it Thursday yet?

And yet somehow the slow, RH hitting 1B currently has a worse xwOBA than the rookie SS you criticize constantly 😉

I was totally joking, but with that said, wouldn’t that be expected?  One guy is a power guy, the other guy is a guy who’s eye is supposed to be his best asset.

xwOBA reflects total expected offensive value similar to a wRC+.

Robert since coming off the IL July 8th

BA .318

OPS .957

HR 3

RBI 11

SB 4

Would anyone be upset if they held onto Robert and pick up his option as opposed to trading him for a garbage return?

Doubtful, but I’d rather they do that than trade him for total garbage.  If the packages are as bad as rumors suggest, let’s see if he can carry this momentum the final two months.

Under no circumstances do you pick up that option.

Honestly - I don’t have any problem with that approach.

They can just not trade him without picking up the option.

But he'll be traded.

We almost certainly are bluffing if we are claiming we will exercise the option.

You 100% pick up that option if the offers are bad. Are you worried about our payroll breaking $40M next season? What are you saving that $20M for?
