Bobby Dalbec added to roster, Meidroth to 10-day IL, Martín Pérez to 60-day IL

The Perez part of this is bad. Now, Sox need a fifth starter for the rest of the year. Iriarte may get first crack, but I would be shocked if he is any good. Maybe B. Wilson? I wonder if this hastens Schultz’s timetable to July or something. Crazy all the TJs.

I wonder if a guy like Vaughn got brought back not because of his talent or potential,  but because unlike the rest of this roster, he just doesn't get hurt.  What are we doing health-wise as an organization?

They probably could have non-tendered him and brought him back cheeper if that were the case. It's not like teams are clammoring for bad 1B who can't hit.

Sure, but much like the Bummer trade last year, Getz doesn't seem to want to take chances on that.  I was just thinking of the connection in the context of health, maybe that's why Vaughn?

It's exactly like that. Have you seen some of the 1B teams are trotting out there?

Such a move might be too savvy for Getz, so you might have a point.

Bobby Malbec is the hittingest dude on the Knights, so, maybe HRs?

Sounds like a Leon Phelps sidekick.

Or some frat bro who just graduated from drinking Herb Ertlinger's Fruit Wine.

I do.  And Vaughn was STILL 36th of 43 1Bs with at least 300 PA, as the White Sox primary 1B.  Granted they managed to also have #41 in Gavin Sheets, but it looks like maybe two teams had a primary 1B worse than Vaughn.  One of them didn't resign their primary 1B.  The other got more fWAR out of a 1B in less than 300 PAs than the Sox got out of Vaughn in 619 PAs.

shout out Chase going out and playing shortstop yesterday.

sucks about Perez, he's off to a really nice start, they really need to think of a new term for "elbow inflammation" because "elbow inflammation" doesn't sound like that big of a deal but it's pretty much the death knell of a pitcher.

I have not been one clamoring for Elko immediately, but Dalbec over Elko is an interesting one. Neither really cover anything but 1B/DH. Both hit RH. I guess Dalbec could stand at 3B, but he's not going to over the other incumbent 3B options. Dalbec has been solid so far, but he's nearly 30. I guess perhaps Sox feel his 40 man spot will be easier to clear than Elko? That's about the only reason I can see for this decision. Unless Lee is really close and we will start seeing Quero at DH most days he's not catching, then there really aren't At bats for Elko at the moment.

I would really be curious why they don't seem to value Elko at all?

Dalbec's been playing RF too in AAA which I then assume to mean he can also play LF.

FWIW, Elko has the biggest wOBA vs xwOBA differential in all of AAA. That is, he hasn't struck the ball nearly as well as his stats would suggest. Dalbec on the other hand has good underlying metrics. Might just be that simple.
