2025-26 NFL Season Thread

Burden looked to get tied up with number 7 in the end, but I couldn’t tell what happened. Hopefully it wasn’t a major injury but Odunze really needs to get back if it was.

Williams looked good but some of those throws where he missed should have been had. Some of the defensive penalties were dumb tonight.

My concern is they will have to play against the Packers in the wild card round of the playoffs and lose at home this time. Call it Chris Conte PTSD.

So if Bears win next week, 2 seed?

To get the #2 seed the Bears have to beat the Lions or the Eagles have to lose to Washington (I wouldn't put money on that happening with Philly).

If the Bears get the #2 seed they get the Packers.

If they get the #3 seed they probably get the Rams.

Regarding the team overall, one of the top two priorities this off season has to be getting some game wreckers on defense, guys teams have to specifically plan for (and fear.)

You simply can't expect to outscore everybody all the time or hope for luck at the end to get you through.

That's a rough draw for Chicago either way (assuming Love is healthy).

The Rams are probably the best all around team in the league.

For me personally this would be awesome.   Braden Fiske on the Rams Dline went through my high school.

A lot of over analyzing that final play. DJ Moore apparently is on the opposite side jumping and waving for the ball since he’s open. Someone else out there saying Caleb should have thrown to Swift immediately to do a foot race for the score. Johnson said they didn’t line up in the way he wanted which he said is on him.

Yeah they weren't ready on that play. The 49ers rushed 3 and got pressure immediately because the protection wasn't correct. I know they wanted to get the right play for 4th and 5, but wasting that timeout ended up burning them in the end. Oh well, hopefully Burden will be ok for the playoffs. Otherwise, losing this wasn't a huge deal. They played well, it just wasn't enough in the end.

The only way the Bears get the Rams is if the Rams lose to the Cardinals or Falcons. I don't see that happening, but you never know. If the Rams win out, they are locked into the 5 seed. If the Bears lose next week and the Eagles win, they will get the loser of the 49ers and Seahawks game.

The DTs were non-existent tonight.  Purdy was able to step in to every throw

This was all without Trent Williams too. Our dline got manhandled by an oline without their best player.

Wright with a nightmare game

This was one of the first games all year where he just got abused on crossers by Pearsall. He had been playing like the best corner on the team before this game. It can't help that he was sick and injured leading up to the game.

Blatant block in the back on that screen pass

For a crew that called basically everything under the sun (and the most penalties on average per game), I don't know how they missed that.

While I am still disappointed that the last play was blown up, it’s hard to deny that this offense is for real.   Yesterday Collinsworth spent the entire game acting like the 49ers were the only good team on the field, when it was 28-28 he was talking about how great Purdy was and how he was the difference in the game.  There was no difference in the game, it was tied!  Both teams had pretty bad defenses on the field and in the end the Bears had like one more empty possession that cost them.

I hope Burden is good, he was interviewed after the game and said he was just tired.  Dude is special with the ball in his hands

Ha, I said the same thing when he said Purdy was the difference in the game when it was 28-28

The bears last two losses left me more exhilarated than certainly the Saints or raiders wins.

We may finally have a team that can compete in every type of game. Pulling that game out would have been so fun but still I just kept pinching myself.

Luther Burden is gonna break Johnny Morris’ records you heard it here first.

He also couldn’t let go the couple overthrows that Caleb threw, which one was in the first half and the other in the 4th quarter.  The way he was bitching and moaning about it you would think Caleb was doing it every other pass

I mentioned it during the game, but there was a play on third down where he missed Loveland while rolling out of the pocket. Collinsworth said something to the effect of “We have seen Caleb make some absolutely out of this world throws this year, a few of them in this game, but he’s gotta be able to hit the easy ones, something he has been inconsistent on thus far and a reason his completion percentage is around 56% on the year.”

And I don’t disagree with any of it. There have been a ton of improvements from Caleb and I’m happy where he is right now..but that area does have to improve, and believe it will
