This is the stuff I am talking about.  No matter what happens, Vaughn starts essentially every day, somewhere in the middle of the line up.  If he was uncoachable and/or lazy, why spend good money to bring him back?  Why keep him on the major league roster after the fact?  Give him a few days off.  Give him a trip to AAA.  Give him a phantom IL trip.  Do something different to get his attention.  But running him out 5 days a week in the middle of the line up at 1B is the same thing we have done with him for years now, with no results.

It's not like his veteran leadership and community service work makes one iota of difference marketing-wise.

My patience is running out with Vaughn, I thought maybe this is the year he puts it altogether and becomes the hitter I thought he would be  when he was drafted, doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Realistically, what could we get for him?

Literally nothing right now.

Well, if Vargas makes a swing change and it works, and Montgomery makes a swing change and it works, then we know the Sox are trying to help players, and they’re seeing some success. Seems likely that either Vaughn has been making changes and they’re not working, or he won’t make them.

I’ve told people why but no one seems to want to listen

With WORSE results, you mean. He's basically gotten worse every year, and has totally bottomed out this year.

I have to assume he'll be sent down at some point soon. Dead weight is fine when the entire roster is dead weight, but they actually have some players who can play now with (hopefully) more on the way. There's no place for a 1B/DH hitting below .200 with bad defense.

Because they don't want to admit he's a bust? That's fine, but the spotlight is already on him. He's already done. Get him off the MLB team.

Because they think the fans like him and he’s marketable

Fair.  I mean we even have a kid we could play for a week at 1B to see what we have for the first time in years.  We can't even use the "what would replace him" excuse that we could use for a lot of this team.  Even if Eklo bombs in regular playing time, call Vaughn back up in 10 days.

Is that a Brooks Boyer fever dream? Because that's absurd.

Capra might be worse than Amaya.

Great job Getz you outdid yourself.

Note:  need more pop from Meidroth Sosa Quero.

Yep, if Meidroth and Quero are going to be everyday players for a team down the road that is trying to win, it doesn’t leave a lot of other positions to have low minimal slugging from.

I think that time is coming soon. 🤞

The worst thing about PCA being so good is also the kids getting his dumbass haircut now.  It’s everywhere I look at tournaments.

That's still better than the Vaughn look.

Hopefully the power shows up as they get more used to the majors. Both are having good at-bats consistently.
