Competitive because of starting pitching. But winning the opener against a good team on the road isn't in their DNA yet.

The offense has been absolutely awful on the road this year

Generally well played game (wish the HP ump had less impact), but the big payroll contender unsurprisingly had enough talent to edge out a win at home.

Wilson had like a <2 ERA and <1 WHIP before this outing and was coming off 5 scoreless outings including a save last series. Meh.

Seriously, I know they want the number one pick, but they gotta try something different with this bullpen.

The number one pick is already locked up by Colorado.

Thankfully, I am wrong. Lord knows we need top end talent.

They can't pick above 9, I don't think. And even if they could, bottom 3 teams have the same odds for the 1st pick.

They can't pick top 9.

And no one has anything locked up. There's a lottery.

Dumb play by Taylor letting  Nimmo reach 2nd

Throwing home when there isn't a prayer of getting the runner while the runner takes second.  As kids playing sandlot baseball...we knew better than this.  A pet peeve of mine.

Not saying they are a great bullpen, but Will sets the order. Will is not blameless this season on all these walks off losses.

I honestly don't fault Venable. Shuffling around the deck chairs wouldn't have kept the Titanic

from sinking.

Why do we watch?  Why?  Everybody on this board KNEW by the mid-6th inning how this game was going to end up. Every single one of us KNEW it. And yet, we kept watching. We are all soooo stupid.

God, I wish I wasn't a White Sox fan.

You are asking a "baseball stupid" organization filled with "baseball stupid" players to be able to execute fundamentals.

That's just not happening.

7th game this season the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost.

3rd time this has happened in the last five games played. Sox could have been 5-0, instead they are 2-3.

Booser has been directly responsible for losing two of the seven games.

Last year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost 27 times.

This year they may come close to that mark again.

"Cannon will start tomorrow. Shane Smith on Wednesday"

Yes!!!!!!! Let's have two more strong/ solid starting pitching performances that will be wasted by a terrible offense and a pathetic bullpen!! I can't wait to be an idiot and watch it happen two more times like the last two days. Fired up.

Bring up some young arms and see what they can do. The Sox will get nothing for the crappy veteran arms blowing games currently.

I didn’t see much of the game, watched a bit over the weekend and kept hearing on the broadcast how great the hitters are, how great the pitching is, how great the prospects are, and on top of that, maybe the greatest coaches ever assembled. How are they 17-37?

I think they are better than last year but the offense is still usually anemic and the bullpen sucks.

I mean, the offense lands at the feet of Robert and Vaughn being absolutely awful and Tauchman/Benintendi being hurt.

Tauchman brings nothing to the table even when healthy. he's done.

"Bad" doesn't even begin to describe this team. Top 3 worst of all time is more like it.

In economic terms, it's the baseball version of stagflation....no growth with prices/inflation increasing, to the point where you can't lower interest rates to provide a boost.

Every time the bullpen comes into a close game, 75% chance it's going to suck all the air out of the balloon.

I just wish Reinsdorf didn't own the team anymore

On pace for a 6.6 WAR gain as a position player unit over last year. Problem is that would only bring them to a .3 WAR total for the entire season.

Additionally their pitching staff is on pace to lose about 2 WAR YoY.

In general they still really really stink.

Maybe the coaches need to do a little coaching.

They have been part of the problem the past years to be sure but the players are equally to blame.

As far as the coaches it's possible they are trying to teach but the players aren't listening or they can't teach to start with. Both may be true.
