From the Sun-Times:

In 11 games since being sent down, Vaughn is slashing .233/.340/.349 with a homer and two doubles. That’s not terrific, but it’s much better than his production in the majors this season: .189/.218/.314 in 48 games.

689 ops in Charlotte is like 589.

Fine for a middle infielder.

I would argue it’s not better and actually worse.

It’s becoming pretty clear that unless AV steps it up, he is going to be the odd man out. The next call up from Charlotte should be Brooks Baldwin, he is on fire slashing at .365/.420/ .762 with an OPS of 1.182, another homer last night.
I would want him playing just playing centerfield and when he’s comfortable out there he can come up and take Robert’s place.

I really am liking the infusion of youth to the club, Baldwin would fit right in. I don't think AV or Robert will be part of the future.

Rick Hahn was sooo bad at evaluating talent.

Agree, both AV and Robert will be gone soon, I wish it weren’t so because they should be in their prime right now but are going in the opposite direction, I like them both but it is what it is.

Yup, Baldwin should be the next man up and whenever that happens they need to give him an extended run of everyday playing time.  I still believe he can be a legit regular even if ends rotating around a lot.

Hopefully additional young pitching can come up and help the club. Grant Taylor as a closer could be an answer to a glaring need.

This proves AV is an average AAA player and at best maybe a bench warmer at the big leagues.

He had issues but Vaughn fooled a lot of people.  Look at this article, halfway down the author starts citing where they projected him and it was very positive across the board for his attributes except for, you know, speed 😂

It wasn’t the talent side. It was the development side. He had a horrible track record of developing players to their talent’s potential.

Remember about a month ago some ex player said that Vaughn had lousy work habits, at the time I just brushed it off but now I’m thinking that there was some truth in what that guy said.

Tyler Osik, and it does seem like he was telling the truth in hindsight…

Don't care about the latest Vaughn news. It is time for the team to move on from him. Same for Robert. Forget the false hope.

He somehow less and less athletic every year as a guy in his early/mid 20s.

I have always liked Baldwin's LH swing and his power. He is an infielder yet the Sox tried him in LF where he made at least two errors (two that I saw). That said he also demonstrated that he has a powerful arm.

I think he can play any infield position except SS pretty good, but that's just my own opinion based on very little.  Bottom line for me is his bat which can be better if he cuts down on the LH home run swing.

Actually it's the scouts.  You can even trace that to the KW era.

I would promote Vaughn to AA and call it a career. He should work with the blind.

They overlooked that drafting him.

How well they move on the bases is not on the Sox list.  Even if Robert can't hit he can turn a walk into a double.

Vaughn turns a double into a single.

With these tweets criticizing his work ethic which only he knows, it could be that he's just not good at baseball and was a flash in the pan. That happens a lot.

He was helped out by the aluminum bats in college. He's got a bad case of warning track power once he turned pro. That's one of those things you can definitely work on as a pro by bulking up, which if the work ethics posts are any indication, he hasn't been working on.

Listening to a podcast about Vaughn and discussing his poor performance at 1B, got the thinking, I know dangerous.

I wonder if the OF experiment was less about the Sox needing an OF and more about them knowing he was a bad 1B and seeing if he could handle OF.

I'd say they really needed an OFer, especially when Eloy got hurt in 2021. Because Vaughn was mostly terrible out there. What didn't make a whole lot of sense was that he got worse as time went on. He was actually better in his first season than his 2nd in the outfield.

Out of sight out of mind. Get rid of the poor guy and let him be Sheets-like in his new home. Have mercy on him and let him go somewhere else. He's not going to contribute here. Trade him for a non prospect or two. Or release him. It's just money.

Not every player has to be a chiseled Adonis but at the very least a player should be adding explosion and power going from 23-27. Vargas did it. Chase should be looking to do it. Sosa is in the process of doing it and so on. Vaughn just looks like a guy that goes to the gym, does a few dumb bell sets and goes to play 18. Fine for a weekend warrior, but as a pro athlete not going to cut it. I don't believe the non sense about having a "tapped out" frame coming out of college. With modern nutrition, supplements and lifting methods anybody can continue putting on muscle into their mid 20s, don't even need the anabolics.
