I think he means if you’re a team giving up a T100 for an Aaron Civale (if he pitches good enough), you probably have a deep farm.

So you are comparing the current version of Civale to back when the Indians traded him to the Rays and he was 28 years old, had great numbers as a starter in the first half of 2023 (2.7 bWAR, 2.34 ERA), earning just $2.6 million that season, with another two years of team control?

Uhhh no.  Your comparison isn’t even close.  I think you are bogarting the bong too much to even share it with @champagne030.

I wasn't thinking about the 2 years of control. but if they get him pumping like Houser, perhaps they can amass a group of lotto tickets to see if any of them emerge as a prospect. Sure as s%*# Vaughn wasn't going to bring back anything of note.

Agreed, but it would be lottery tickets, not a prospect like Manzardo, and the Sox would probably have to eat some of Civale’s $8 million contract moving him to another team.

Why all the negativity toward Elko. Earlier in the year the fanboard was clamoring for him to come up to the bigs. He's only a 10th round pick but I thought he was the next Dave Kingman. Let's support Elko folks and not hate everybody.

 Once the avalanche starts you can't stop it. Fans don't develop hitters, they say they stink . There's always pushback when fans pick out a likable young man to root for against the odds of his pedigree . It's much easier to be right saying someone sucks than to be kind and have a little patience.

Best case he gets hot and you maybe get a reliever type of prospect for him. In meantime at least he is here to kind of protect the rest of the arms. Vaughn was gone no matter what at end of the year anyway. 

To me Andrew Vaughn represents everything about that was wrong about the previous iteration of the White Sox. He was a 1B/DH taken with a top 3 pick (ahead of Riley Greene, CJ Abrams, and Corbin Carroll), bad strike zone judgement, lack of power, and no defensive value whatsoever. I read the reports about him not being a good teammate or a hard worker, maybe Lance Lynn rubbed off on him. Truly one of the worst players I’ve ever seen. I’m glad the Sox were able to get something of value for him, but I was a proponent of them non tendering him in the offseason and moving on but I’ll give the front office their flowers on the trade they made.

Bad enuff they let the Pope steal Bill Melton's number then they trade our best player ever.

I think it is better labeled as existing. 

Waiting for them to draft a position player instead of future pitching trade pieces.

We are easily impressed with the prospects not raised by the Sox.

I'd love for them to draft one that becomes a superstar but that will be a curse if JR are still around because that will be a trade piece.

If they can get more Jeral Perez/Alexander Albertus type players that would be ideal. Teenage prospects, who ideally play up the middle, are the currency of the game right now

I love breaking rumors that are essentially team propaganda.  Look, maybe Vaughn can turn it around, but returning to being a starting 1B in a month?  That's a bit rich for my blood.

Return to being an everyday 1B? There are maybe two months out his entire career he performed like an average regular at 1B. The rest of the time he was replacement level or below.
