Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale

Elko isn't good, but there are a lot of not good things on this roster.

I do find satisfaction having a tall first baseman after the last few years. Hard to go back. Vargas is acceptable. But you saw what happens with Lenyn, short people don't know where small obstacles like "bases" are. They are too close to the ground, have great balance.

Tall people are at a constant fear of stepping on something and falling over, and dying. Nature over nurture here, gotta go tall.

Maybe Elko will come around knowing the Vaughn isn’t around anymore to take back first base but I’m not holding my breath on that scenario.

I read something that of all players who have at least 2000 plate appearances with the White Sox, Vaughn has the 3rd lowest WAR.

I was so happy when the Sox got him. He was advertised as Konerko on steroids, a guy that knew the strike zone inside and out, something not many White Sox could say. Maury would now say that was a lie.

I saw that too and realize that Vaughn is bad but of all horrible guys that have played with the Sox it’s hard to believe Vaughn would be the third worst but then I thought that if you are really bad you wouldn’t get 2,000 ABs even with the White Sox.

Can Brooks Baldwin play 1st? Why is he still in Charlotte.

He’s been playing LF just about every game, anyone think that Benintendi could handle first base with Baldwin taking over in left field.

No there were worse players, but only 2 that got that big of a chance.

Is there a Sergio Santos "you've been traded" video to accompany this news?

My favorite Vaughn memory was when we were told he was 6'1" but he ended up being 5'10" (I don't even think hes 5'10")

My favorite is the reading what the same people telling us how we got such a great deal for Vaughn now, told us all how incredible he was going to be as a slam dunk hitter for the Sox.

He's hitting .380 in Charlotte with an OPS of 1.171 and 7 hrs in 79 AB's. for 2025. Yeah, I think it's time to bring him up, give him another chance, and hope that he's not a AAAA player.

Your wish is granted.

A couple things: You guys should realize who are all excited about Baldwin's stats and how well he's hitting down in Charlotte and want to bring him up because he's a hitting machine. Well . . .

Jacob Amaya is hitting .464 down in Charlotte (that is true; I looked it up on two different sources), and remember Elko was batting .350.

So, big time raking doesn't see too difficult down in Charlotte.

On a different point:

I don't know if I want to give him an entire season to show what he can do, but I'd like to give Elko, at least,  until August. He just has so many positives:  He is so athletic (stole the weird base a few nights ago), unlike Vaughn, he can score from 2nd on a single; also, he seems to play a great defensive 1st base; and he has over 30 home runs a season potential. The Sox NEED power soooo badly. Let's see if he can provide some.

He had three at bats last night that were just terrible; I admit that is true. But let's not just give up on his potential and say he's a AAAA player yet, or even for a while yet.
