Civale, Noda up, Elko, Gilbert down

Wish Tim would get a longer shot, but his approach right now is pretty bad.  At least Noda can take a walk, and also seems to be a local guy.

Left-handed bat as well.

I don't hate giving Noda a shot. This lineup needs some pop desperately, and unlike Elko he actually has an approach at the plate.

We need lefties so whatever. Hope he can run into one a bit more than Elko.

I would be surprised to see Elko up again before September

Noda? Come on.

How fast was that inning holy s%*# went upstairs and rangers batting again

aw man, he's straight out of the bog! I liked him in Oakland for a minute then kinda forgot about him -- seems like an OK pickup, then again Boston is desperate for a first baseman, is a pretty bad team, and still DFA'd him. Sox had the first pick at him, right? And still took 4 days to pick him up. We've been overrating Elko on this board (and on the postgame show), but I'd still probably rather look at him.

This Noda dude sucks lol

When Civale throws a pitch tomorrow, he’ll be the 100th player to make his Sox debut since the start of the 2023 season. That’s in under 2.5 seasons. This routinely used to take 6+ seasons. Hi, Getz!

This is just wild.

Garbage in. Garbage out. Getz.

Could the Sox please expand the DFA list to include Noda, Rojas, Slater, Capra.

What are we doing here?

Looks no better than Vaughn or Elko, when Sosa comes back Vargas should play 1B and Sosa 3B.

It’s a good thing we sent Elko down for an 0-3 2K day lol

Sosa should be at 2B.
Rojas should be nowhere near this team.

I’m hoping Montgomery will be ready soon, you could start him at SS with Vargas at 1B, Meidroth at 2B and Sosa at 3B or Montgomery at 3B with Meidroth at SS and Sosa at 2B. I’m not wild about Sosa at 2B, he screwed up a few plays at 2B before he was injured, it looked like for some reason a lack of concentration.

Vargas is far more valuable at 3B if he can stick. Keep him there.

I'm trying to figure out why Milwaukee traded Civale for Vaughn and made the money even. For Getz, this was a no brainer. You might not get much for Civale, but it will be more than he could have gotten for Vaughn, and with the money sent, he should be able to get more than the Brew Crew could have gotten had they traded him for a prospect or two.

Civale wanted to remain in the Brewers rotation or be traded to another team that would use him as a starter.  The Brewers removed him from their rotation for their top prospect Jacob Misiorowski and just didn’t want a problem child on their hands.

That's not insignificant money for the Brewers...still.

I guess they're really hoping that Vaughn can be decent enough they can justify not having to pay Hoskins $18 million next year.   Mid-market teams just can't afford that when they can go out and get a J.Bell, R.Tellez, C.Santana, Gavin Sheets, Domonic Smith type for pennies on the dollar.

You only pay that kind of money for 1B/DH for true difference makers like a Rafael Devers or slightly below.
