damn

just stupidly unlucky

How did Vargas not beat that out?  The throw to second was soft for the force.

Looked liked he was stumbling the whole way to first.  UGH!

I think that's 3 or 4 robbed catches in the outfield and now a 2 run double down the line saved

His numbers are free-falling almost as fast as Tauchman’s.

At least Capra has a nice AVG (.309).  Oh wait, that’s his OPS…

Now these guys look decent on the road and horrible at home

A desultory night on offense.

It's amazing how you can field an offense this bad year after year, even on accident.

Its called losing on purpose. The team simply can't hit.

Schriff seems just as nice and as competent as McKnight. I really like both of them.

That said,   I don't like what I perceive as mean-spirited scrutiny of a young broadcaster to the degree I have seen it, including from Paul Sullivan (and I commented on that previously.)  Maybe we should not lose sight of the fact that Schriff is one of the only Black Major League Baseball play-by-play announcers out there.  Does that mean he should be immune from criticism. No, but it makes me think twice when McKnight fills in for a game and criticism of Schriff somehow seeps to the surface. Whatever you think of this young man, never forget, this is sports, nothing more.

Schriffen just needs to tone it down a bit as he goes over the top when the Sox do good things. I think eventually he will be fine, he’s is a likable guy, is articulate and has a good broadcast voice. I actually like him better than Benetti as I wasn’t a fan of him at all.

The guys work is what drew the criticism.  Last year was abjectly awful, there is no other way to describe it.  He was ranked one of the worst broadcasters in the league, and constantly was on embarrassing replays.  That’s not unjust criticism, he earned that

also, pretty lame of you to drop race into the discussion as if anyone ever mentioned anything like that in criticism

Was going to say, what does that have to do with anything?

1 run in 18 innings against Arizona and at home, what's worse than pathetic.

I gotta say, I actually tuned into a good chunk of the game, and he was surprisingly good.  Now part of it was that Stone was actually engaged and interested, but it was noticeably better than usual.  Much more discussion and much less fantasy.

Unfortunately race is still something that impacts opinions, perceptions, and attitudes in this country and in baseball long after Jackie Robinson came into the game. Deny that if you wish but it's reality. My own opinion of the criticism of this young man is that it often exposes more about those who engage in it than it does about the broadcaster. Schriff will never be "competent" enough for some people who are looking for someone else they can probably relate to more.

Ah yes, staying looking down your nose at everyone else.  Never change, Tray

Explain why lilly white Jason and Hawk got so much similar criticism.

I thought Schriffen was much better this year.  And, I couldn't even tell that he was Black. Bennetti got on my nerves a lot more than Schriff. The one I don't care for is the young gal who shows up about once an inning or so. Mute.

Kyle Teel is realing looking like the top prospect he is supposed to be, and Sosa is beginning to put it together more consistently.

Why Grant Taylor in the 7th and not in the 9th?
