Yeah, 2020 wasn’t real tho

Everything we know about sports says 2020 was a fluke of a year. I'm not taking away any titles or putting an asterisk on anything but the results were tainted by the pandemic and the various unequal ways teams and individuals approached it and were affected by it.

  • I do not think this is good for him, and it’s based on a very small sample size of good ball

As someone who watches unreasonable amounts of Sox MiLB and has seen Colson play at every level including AFL, I think this is the right move.  The spot where they rushed him was from AA to Charl

  • You expected the Sox to not be idiotic?

Not much to complain about. Oh he hits too many home runs. Most impressive rookie since Chase Meidroth.

Kind of makes up for Vaughn turning into Joe Dimaggio but I don't begrudge anyone.  It was time to move on.

I begrudge somebody. Just not sure who it is or who it should be.

Spread it around. Vaughn, Hahn, Getz and also JR because why not.

He's so good that you have to believe the Sox have their own superstar. His potential is unlimited.

He's not a fast runner and will eventually grade out around average to slightly below at SS and likely a lower batting average due to selling out for power...but sure why not?

It's going to be a period of adjustments for both pitchers and Colson.

Nice to see a Sox hitter as a rookie getting some intentional bb's.

Have to think he'll start walking more and lowering the K's as teams adjust. I don't think he's had a real opportunity to show off his 'eye'. He's been better than I thought he would be so far, at the plate and defensively, but the 'plate discipline' is I think what set him apart in the minor leagues.

I feel like he just hits tanks - they are always bombs when he hits them.

Little worried it is home run or nothing right now for him and he is going to be home run happy. I feel like every swing he is trying to hit a home rum, it is fun to watch when he connects but I hope he doesn't get into his own head when he goes in a home run slump

Is he trying to hit a home run every swing, or does he just do it? Our man has doubled his HR rate compared to the bandbox in Charlotte. His batting average is about 30 points higher.

Worried about nothing. Glass half full is the objectively correct perspective. He's killing it and people are still freaking out lol. My favorite post of all time on this board is that guy who was mad he only hit a triple instead of an inside the park home run.

Like I said before he is gonna take Chicago by storm. He's the Sox version of Pete Crow-Armstrong, Bobby Witt Jr., Connor Bedard. Ten home runs at this stage is remarkable. His last two homers have been rockets.

once Braden is up here, the Montgomery brothers (from another mother) are going to be a very famous duo around the league. The younger Montgomery has a lot more charisma, I hope he's good.

Cue the upcoming Colson slump…  🤣

I've seen others note it, and I agree, that his swing reminds me of Corey Seager.  It's amazing how much power he has.  I imagine he'll have his ups and downs and suffer some slumps, but as someone else mentioned, he could be the new superstar for the Sox.

Hasn't Seager also had some back/disc/spasm issues?

Colson swings the bat so violently...obviously playing with all the confidence in the world now, but are their metrics on his swing speed and EV's comparing 2023/24/25???

Was he swinging the same way in the AFL?

This attitude right here is how he will do well in the bigs. As long as he stays healthy, and his back makes me very nervous, he's got the talent and the mindset. He may turn into what we thought TA would as long as he stays healthy.

Tim Anderson averaged 4.01 WAR per/162 in his first 6 years with the White Sox. If Colson has that pace, it would be a huge win.

I know Timmy fell apart, but he was really good for a number of years.  Way more so than most of the rebuild fodder.

Yep, easily the best from that group.

TA was in the cusp of superstardom following the WBC until that last injury.

Dude was mad marketable and the Sox win percentage when played vs. didn't was crazy.

the night of his homer in the corn game is probably the most optimistic i've ever been about the sox's long-term chances. i was convinced he was about to lead us to multiple championships. instead, it was all downhill.
