Him stepping out was the cosmic moment all his karma got sucked out. Perhaps literally.

That moment was the peak of that core. From like a "heat index" perspective, that was the highest they would have been since 2005. And it was all downhill from there. 1

The back to back playoff appearances for the first time in their history was worth the footnote as well.

Yes, but there was more heat on them after that walkoff then even when they went into the playoffs against Houston. Outside of 2005, they have never been higher on the mountain than they were after that walkoff, that's my point. 2

Quin
I was on the phone with my dad, who was watching in Arizona and his feed was slightly ahead. I told him to try and not spoil it. I remember hearing him beginning to sound excited while TA was taking pitches on my screen and I went "I'm guessing he hit a walk off? He replied "HOW DO YOU KNOW???" One second later it was on my TV and god do I miss the vibes of that game. 3

I was literally at Disney World, and had just walked back into my hotel room from a day at Magic Kingdom. I kept trying to follow the game on my phone using my IP masker to try to stream it.

Didn't Hendriks or Kimbrel blow the lead in that one? Or both? High water mark for the Sox since 2005-06-08. Hendriks gave up multiple home runs in the 9th inning before Anderson won it.

One of the better sports moments I've attended as a fan, not including working.

BTW The Rays have brought up Shortstop Carson Williams who has had a monster minor league career, went 2 for 4 in his first MLB game with a homer and 3 RBI. It will be interesting watching Monty and Williams and what kind of numbers these kids put up along the way. Hitting that first HR at Steinbrenner helped get Colson going.

Steinbrenner Field has the exact same dimensions as Yankee Stadium, a bit harder for a right handed hitter than a lefty hitter and Williams is a righty. Next year the Rays will be back at the Trop. Autumn Dreamin
Fun tidbit from Twins radio: Colson became the 3rd player this season to homer in three straight games in a series vs. the Twins. The other two are Cal Raleigh (who hit #48 and #49 today to set the single season catcher HR record) and Shohei (who hit #45 today).
hogan873
Colson could be one of those guys with a low-ish BA and big power numbers. If he's a perennial .240+, 35+ HR, 90+ BRI player with decent defense, I think we'd be pretty happy. As others have mentioned, his health is probably the biggest concern. One significant back injury and he's a flash in the pan.
