Maybe one of Smith or Burke goes to the pen, or they tandem them, 3 innings a piece, or something. I think they like Vasil and Alexander as long men.

It's hard to see that happening anytime soon when history tells us they wont be signing major free agents and the expectation is that all our our prospects work out which funny enough is the dagger that killed the last rebuild we just went through not even a decade ago yet. I want this team to be good, I don't enjoy watching this garbage, but im gonna call a spade a spade. I know your statement to be true. Im just pointing out how some posts read in this thread. I think we can be cautiously optimistic and understand that projections cant always account for everything. Especially with a young group of kids hungry to improve and a failure to account for positive momentum. Ishbia also provides and X factor we havent encountered before. We don't know how or when he'll contribute.

Beyond that, I would think Cannon, Martin and Perez could handle 50-70 more innings each in the duration.

I didn't believe a single word that came out of Getz' mouth in that interview yesterday. 54 minutes ago, Lip Man 1 said: Neither Getz nor the organization has earned the benefit of the doubt but given his comments yesterday for JR to then order him to just waive Robert would make him look very bad. And it's not like Getz would say that JR ordered him to do it. I don't think JR would put him in that situation at least not so soon. This would make no sense. They could have done a salary dump yesterday, accepted the best of the bad offers, and be free of the buyout amount and the rest of his prorated salary. It isn't rocket science. Robert will make $20 mil next year. Robert (on the open market) or his replacement would probably cost the team 50-75% of that amount. It wasn't worth it to the team to accept a subpar package if they think they can trade him next year for something worthwhile by spending only an additional $5-7 million. The only way they don't pick up the option is if he completely embarrasses himself or has some catastrophic injury before the end of the season. If they just wanted to save money, they could have dumped him 24 hours ago and people would have been cool with that.

Slate is clean for the White Sox once Jerry is gone. Ishbia will also have to prove it from a performance standpoint, but more than willing to give him a fair shot.

Falstaff
For a fan base that is as passionate as we are and has been pushed to our limits this surge is cathartic. I love reading the positive posts but also acknowledge what can be taken as negative as reality. This team, today, with the present core and manager is light years ahead of the team on 8/1/2024. 1

Kinda funny story...one time someone newer here on this board did not get that what I posted was a joke, so one of the regulars said "he's just kidding but he's a great guy".....I passed along that information to my better half who said "how does he know that your a great guy??" I forgot that they changed the rule where you can't trade anything after the original deadline and anything placed on revocable waivers is a straight salary dump. I was thinking that Getz overplayed his hand and Mr. Burns would tell him to fix it with the best he can do (via waivers) because he wasn't eating that option. I guess I'm just so jaded that I can't believe JR agreed to eat $20M in a throw away season next year and the odds are high that we won't anything better than what was just available.

77 Hitmen
5 hours ago, Look at Ray Ray Run said: I said it elsewhere, but the devastating thing to me is that my entire life I've been surrounded by Sox fans -- friends and family. The vast majority of those people are no longer watching White Sox baseball, aren't talking about it, and aren't attending games. I just don't think people realize how the vast majority of fans view this team, and it's one thing that can/could really kill the future of this organization. These are people who have been through miserable White Sox baseball, but this stretch has broken them. Heck, I post here around trade deadline and other periods because my circle doesn't want to talk about the team. They've moved on to other hobbies and interests. That's a scary thing as these were season ticket holding fans watching 100+ games a year. The one thing that is worse than anger or hatred of the team is total indifference. You're right, this is what's happening and it's concerning. That doesn't mean I want the Sox to make any short-sighted moves to "go for" a 90-loss season next year, but it'll definitely be a challenge to rebuild interest in this team once this franchise finally, someday gets itself truly turned around.
