Say what you want: The Sox are rising.

Hard not to rise from rock botton Greg. Was easy to see the rise coming just by some of the youngs guys from trades arriving. It could end up being a 20 game improvement from last year.

Now it'll get harder there wont be a 20 game leap forward from this years win total. Im not saying it'll be impossible but it ' ll mostly have to be interally driven. Highly doubtful they get any highly impactful veteran player from elsewhere.

Without looking it up, I was thinking that it might be Davidson,  the catcher we took back from Seattle in the Garcia trade.  But I'm not sure as I just don't remember a backup catcher at all that season.

And speaking of Davidson, I saw him at some point this season; he's on the broadcast crew of some team.

Backup catcher in 05 was Chris Widger. Your thinking ben davis he was here in 04

Is this the 1st time they've won 5 in a row this season?

the sad part of seeing the highlights is it looks like a game played in 2020.

Why is that sad?  I take great pleasure in watching that org suffer lol

Didn’t Widger once take The Big Unit deep twice in a game? If he didn’t I plead senile dementia.

Widger had four 2-HR games. He hit two off of Mark Gardner of the Giants, and 2 off of Kevin Jarvis of the Rockies.

I think the Sox hit four straight homers off Randy Johnson. Widger had one of them- maybe the 4th.

I don't know who or why but there was a dude wearing a Widger jersey next to a guy wearing a Jon Adkins jersey like 9 rows in front of me and I wish I wasn't too distracted by a lady with a purse filled of rum to go ask those dudes what was up

It is at least a 68% chance that it was actually them.

Also, were they bottles of rum or did the purse have a spigot where the rum came out?

it was three, I was at that game!! Iguchi, Rowand, Konerko.

evidently Widger hit a fourth that inning with two runners on.

Randy gave up 6 runs in the 4th inning and still went 8 IP. Those were the days.

Three straight, two singles, then Widger with a 3-run knock:

That was not unlike the game I went to on my birthday in 96.  Baines, Thomas, Ventura hit b2b2b, then Lyle Mouton hit a Single, followed by a Chad Krueter home run.  That was absolutely wild live.  Baines homerun was a rope, probably didn’t clear 20 feet off the ground

My favorite of these was in the mid 80's Dave Steib has a no-hitter going against the Sox through 8, and then the first three guys hit homers in the 9th.  Rudy Law, Bryan Little, and Harold hit B2B2B to end the no hitter and chase Steib from the game before the pen shut it down.

No he did not. He was part of the four home run outburst against Johnson in a single inning at home in August 2005.

It was not four consecutive.

You can see the posts that follow, where people discuss and correct it, right?  There is no need for you to continue to correct the record

How about for just repeating things to be right in a conversation in which it was already corrected, instead of the inconvenience

It's not about "being right" at all. Didn't see all the corrections at first.

I assure you, it will not happen again. I hope that satisfies you.
