Wait, you’re trying to use the Bears as an argument for why the Sox don’t suck or something?

  • He has left a lot of money on the table and depreciated the value of his organization by being such a penny pinching dipshit

TBH Jerry is the biggest reason of all to bet against Getz and this franchise as a whole.

Good article. In this day and age especially where college and pro football teams are firing guys before the halfway part of seasons for gosh sake, Jerry deserves all the scorn and more that he gets. He owns the team so he can't get fired but if ever a guy deserved to be fired it's Jerry for a zillion reasons. Taking the Bulls out of the equation what he's done to the Sox after the momentum of 2005 is downright sad. One title is fine but in this day and age one glorious moment is not near enough especially when he's in charge of this 100 loss machine.

Did I miss this story?

Maybe the most ironic part of this particular endeavor is that the final straw that made me start typing was Reinsdorf reportedly talking s%*# about the Cubs to the Brewers last week, as reported on ESPN1000.

I don’t listen to espn 1000 so I never heard that

In the last 12 seasons the Chicago Bears have had one winning season. What does that say about the Bears ownership?

It says they have had one winning season in the last 12.  The Bears have been abjectly awful at decision making but they have tried to win, Jerry has done no such thing.  The Sox have had the worst season in the history of the league and are on year 3 of 100 losses.

Yep, they both suck.  Congrats to us.

Dovetails nicely with the scathing expose' The Athletic did on JR last September.

Interesting. I was at a Fall League game today which did not have the Desert Dogs and there were some Brewer fans talking about bad owners and JR is often on top. The same thing happened last year when a couple was wondering who was the worst, Fisher or Reinsdorf.

He has a legacy all right.

The organization has to be blacklisted among quality free agents.   The only solution is to grow your own superstars and not trade them away.  Anyone of value our mental illness of trade frenzy kicks in.  Cheaper and younger only works if you have great scouting and development but even that falls short. Even the big spenders have great scouting and development.

Winning solves everything but it doesn't if it is not consistent.

There is some truth to this but what is also very true is getting new ownership on hand to flush everything the old ownership did right down the toilet and create a new identity among fans, media, players and agents.

“Reportedly.”

And it has been 20 years since the Sox last won a post season series, although admittedly that was the World Series!

In a perfect world, MLB should force Reinsdorf to sell the team to Ishbia like today, yes I know it’s wishful thinking and I’ll leave it at that.
This deplorable man has just about destroyed the franchise and I hope he knows that he is probably the most hated man in Chicago, nice legacy, the creep belongs in the Hall of Shame.

JR doesn't care if he's hated by Bulls/White Sox fans. The only thing he cares about is making money. And he has been very good at making money.

I’ve maintained for a while the Bears (George specifically) have wanted to win, they are just too dumb to figure out how. It hasn’t been about not being willing to pay or make big moves, ownership is just simply bad in hiring and foundation building. Jerry is far smarter than George, which makes him even worse

comparing success in the NFL and MLB is apples and oranges,  1st round picks in the NFL can create immediate success plus the choices are not large as they are in MLB.

I have no idea why we are discussing the Bears.

This will not happen overnight.

Because WBWSF is weirdly deflecting

The White Sox and baseball in general were probably THE stabilizing force in my life since I was a child, the one consistent activity I had was watching and talking about white Sox baseball, hence why I joined this site 21 years ago and became a regular. After 35 years of constant disappointment with zero hope in sight I decided to relinquish my fandom and cut the team out of my life. Instead on being jaded and synical, constantly bitching about Sox minutea that will not improve anytime soon I decided to just stop following them one day and you know what? I'm a lot better off for having done so, I'm infinitly happier in my life doing things that I enjoy. My removing the one thing from my life that I held most dear was 100% in response to JR's dreadful fucking ownership, I have zero positive feelings towards that man and the way he chooses to run his sports franchises. Its just further proof that you can find tremendous success in the business world and still be an enormous fucking loser.

Conspiracy theory alert!!: We don't know that MLB didn't nudge Reinsdorf along, either overtly, or through writing on the wall. The weird blurriness (which is so uniquely Reinsdorfian) buys him time to save face and get his affairs in order.
